  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

A 16 year old jumped in front a train near where I live yesterday. 16 FFS. This life is so cruel. I think that's too young too ctb. I hope he's in peace. How can life be so cruel. Made me upset that story. Life supposed to be beautiful and things like this happen. Lifes so fucked up.

The train does sound like a horrifying way to leave this world. I know that I could never ctb that way. I can personally never be against suicide as I see life as being completely meaningless, we have no obligation to stay alive as we never asked to exist. Life is only suffering, there is nothing 'beautiful' about life.

It is sad the amount of pain that people go through. I do envy those that are gone and the courage they had. Rest in peace. Life is certainly cruel.

Beauty is subjective and mostly a trivial idea.

Humans are animals like any other. None of us asked to be here and many of us do not want to be.

I personally find it beautiful that he'd the strength to choose to leave, and so young at that.

Avoided a lifetime of suffering.

Beautiful indeed.

It's horrible. 16 is very young and his life still could have gone in many different directions at that age.

Can't lie though, in hindsight I do wish I had done it at 16 and saved myself all the pain as things never did get better for me. But that's not to say they won't for others and it's probably worth hanging on at that age to see how it pans out... experience things a bit more before deciding that... It's a huge, irreversible decision and I don't think you can be so sure at 16. You're just a baby with hardly any experience of life and still with so many opportunities for things to go differently.

There is nothing beautiful about a 16 year old child committing suicide. It's horrible and tragic and should never have to happen.

But guys, we are on Sanctioned Suicide! What if the boy had a very severe disease? It's definitely not beautiful that he had to die, but it's beautiful that he was able to spare himself of potential lifetime of suffering. Don't you think so?

I have to disagree. Their brains are not fully developed to grasp what they are doing. It's why I don't think anyone under the age of 21 should be making an irreversible decision like this.

He was 16 FFS. His brain wasn't developed fully to ctb. He was a child. At 16 it might have been heartbreak over a girl. Or something like bullying. It's not beautiful. It's sad. Very sad.

21 should be minimum age you can ctb. Your an adult then so have worked out life a bit more. I can't say any suicide is beautiful. Especially a child. Life is a mystery.

Idk, i tried to ctb at the age of 16. Several years have passed, little has changed since then. I guess I'd rather die that time

I understand why people may regard such an event as tragic--and do concede that in this particular circumstance the kid's age poses a question of the legitimacy of the act. Perhaps his brain wasn't fully developed. Perhaps he hadn't enough time to discern whether it was an 'ideal' time . . . or had he more time, perhaps he would have chosen to remain alive altogether, until he experienced a 'natural' death . . . perhaps perhaps perhaps . . .

This series is endless and ultimately only speculative . . . No one but him will ever know.

In this community there are individuals such as myself that believe in the value of the right to choose, and in that (at least illusory insofar as I'm not convinced that we even have a choice to begin with) self-agency, discover an uncanny beauty. We may not be able to choose our circumstance of entering this domain, but we may be able to leave on our terms (or at least experience the illusion of such).

He made his choice and there is nothing to be done.

I'm merely acknowledging the silver lining.

It's still horrible and tragic. If he had a severe disease, that would be horrible and tragic. It's horrible and tragic if he had to spare himself a lifetime of potential suffering. I fail to see the beauty in anyone having to commit suicide for ANY reason. It's a tragic and horrific result of the human condition. It shouldn't have to be.
