Venting Tip: I Am So Fucking Mad

Mondays are just a disaster. It's just after the weekend and so far from the next!

I used to always feel for the folks at my old job that would only have Tuesday and Wednesday as their days off or their weekends..

There's this one dude at my job. Total bootlicker, always schmoozing with the boss. Well, they've recently made him in charge of training, but he's awful at the job and does nothing but overcomplicate things, put new hires in a panic, and piss everyone with his booming voice. My boyfriend had to re-train me after his four hour "training"

yeah well this tiny bit of power has gone straight to his head and he thinks he's a fucking supervisor now. He's always getting off the phones and hovering over people, "HOW WE DOING OVER HERE" "ARE WE KILLIN IT TODAY?" "STAY POSITIVE WE'RE A FAMILY!!!!!!!" it's sickening dude. He also charged over like a territorial dog when my bf was trying to help one of the new hires with actual advice, "WHATS GOING ON OVER HERE," his mouth practically frothing

I've found that putting people in a position of power brings out their true colors, you get to see who they really are once they feel they are above you.

Yes, absolute power corrupts. This is why it's so dangerous for some people to have too much power over others. Nobody is immune from being corrupted by power but I do think certain personality types are more interested in power over others. That may be the only way they are able to feel good about themselves lol!

Wow, that has turned out well tbh, I've been in that situation a few times and it's generally not gone quite so successfully. Usually goes:

COLLEAGUES: Man this is dreadful. This manager is a fucking prick. Somebody needs to say something. Chinaski, you're good at this kind of thing. Go tell them straight. We're all a hundred percent behind you.

ME: Thanks guys, this means so much. I'll go and have a word with the gaffer and, knowing I've your solidarity and support, will pull no punches. Hey, boss man! We need to talk. This is all shit and we've fucking had enough of it, everybody is supportive of me saying this, aren't you? Hello? Guys!?

yeah I'm still kind of in shock; this is the kind of shit one fantasizes about, before heading their subservient ass back into work for another miserable day on the grind. Was definitely expecting more of a "u r sacked m8 lol" kinda deal.

it's not all smooth sailing, as the big baby is acting out more as he realizes his power is slipping. big boss man is on our side though so it doesn't really matter now.

oh yeah, he already unleashed his wrath today on the poor girl that manages the floor (easy target). The dude that helps her is the one that answers incoming calls; he called and asked to talk to the girl, dude said "nah you can talk to me." So, Bitchboy shut dude's phone off remotely, so that he could bypass to the girl's system just to bitch at her. fucking lousy move, all that does is make her cry and piss us all off. He's acting like a cornered animal, desperately lashing out because he feels threatened.

ah well, he's about to get torn a brand new asshole come monday, so that will be a sight to behold.

On a serious note though, it does really suck that some companies can drain the life from us and expect us to keep going. I'm in a shit job too, to the point where it's made me more physically ill than I was before I joined. Not all companies are like that though, the one I was in before was so good to me and I was an idiot to assume that everywhere else would have the same standards.

Being in my shit job has lowered my confidence in what I'm capable of doing, and my capability to find a new job by showcasing my talents. I apply for jobs with a sense of dread because I see myself as a piece of shit who got herself into this horrible mess in the first place. We need to find places where our team will boost us up, not rip us to shreds and then make us feel trapped there like mine has.

People just can't handle power. Then there's the formation of work-cliques with subtle bullying and the ousting of the not-so-popular or quiet people. I see it time and time again with my girlfriend's jobs. She's upset almost every day, it kills her and me in turn. The whole system is deplorable.

It gives me such comfort to know you're in the same state as me. Sorry if I don't give you the same comfort, and I'm not trying to break anonymity, but when I read what you write, it just makes me feel less alone here.
