To me it's horrible how existing can torture people so much and yet not cause them to cease existing when they want to die, the problem lies in the fact that humans are programmed to survive.
Totally agree. I can't say I'm knowledgable enough to know for sure but it seems like the diagnosis of mental illness is VERY different to physical illness. Especially when it comes to judging whether assisted suicide should be granted. I'd really like to know whether there are physiological changes to the brain in severe mental health cases and whether some of these are irreversable and not easy to treat. In which case- that surely is a cut and dry cause to allow someone assisted suicide. I don't understand why more research isn't being done on this- I guess maybe it is... Still- dignosing an illness purely based on symptoms and then just kind of experimenting with what medications/ therapies seem to affect it seems VERY unscientific!
