I was just thinking of that famous page from All Star Superman... It's Issue 10, page 12, I think. The one where Superman stops a young person from jumping off a skyscraper. In the 4th panel, he says, "You are much stronger than you think you are. Trust me."
It's a testament to the power of fiction, that it makes me tear up every time I see it. I don't agree with any of it, but every time I see the page, I want to believe.
Edit: A clarification - I'm not trying to be a pro-lifer... I'm just observing how powerful fiction can be in pushing certain ideas. Because I so desperately want Superman to say that to me, despite the fact that I disagree with it. If he existed, and he did say that to me, I might believe him and try to live, for once.
