@K-O I would second that as good advice. You can be economical with the truth to paint a good picture without lying, whilst still being honest enough to show them some integrity.
This is how people ace job interviews at good companies. Think what they want to hear. Someone who has been through it and deep down suffered but is also willing to put in the effort to recover. They don't want someone they can't trust but they do need to see that you both need the place and will benefit from it.
