I suppose it would do I'm just a bit OTT my mentality is do it right or not at all lol it's why I'm using tape and ratchet together.

I just learned of this method today so I'm no expert but I work with electrical tape and I can't imagine it would be the most reliable for this method. If this is what you end up using, you're going to have to stretch the tape tight as you wrap. Its adhesive isn't the best but it holds best when stretched tight. Also it is somewhat easy to stretch and tear, depends on the quality of it.
Will duct tape or a belt work then?

Can i use a shirt like this https://www.wikihow.com/Burrito-Roll-a-Shirt instead of the cornhole bags?

Duct tape will be fine as an alternative. It's pretty much the same as the Gorilla tape mentioned in the 1st post.

The t-shirt idea looks like it could work, although it may end up a bit too big for your needs. If so, you could always cut it down to the right size. I think your idea is workable though. The cotton t-shirt should be flexible enough to mould itself into the correct correct shape whilst not being too soft as to compress easily when pressure is applied. Certainly a better option than socks.

This will keep the artery flat against the underlying tissue and allow you to apply firm pressure without being painful and prevent it from rolling out of the way. Standing for me is easiest, but I worry about falling if I make myself black out, so sitting may be the best for finger practice. Trying to use fingers while laying down doesn't seem to work at all for me, I'm guessing because the neck is out of alignment in some odd way.

My concern with this method is the original description said you can do this lying down and you can do it slowly. The guy said he was a marine, who knows, I saw a Quora or something post about it a few years ago from someone claiming to be a marine, anyway a choke out to unconsciousness while standing obviously isn't the same as to death while lying down (originally or when pass out. Seems like the strap would have to be completely immobile and have the artery trapped or could move away from the strap). How do we know it works once lying down? I know people accidentally die doing asphyxiation practices like this for non-suicidal reasons, but I don't know how exactly and maybe that's more like partial suspension hanging? Just some thoughts in response to your useful post.

You only need to lie down at the start to position the bags correctly and loosely tighten the strap. After that, you can go sit in a chair or whatever and complete the task.

I've modified it for me i'm using tape while standing to secure the bean bags on my kneck and position the strap it feels awkward for me to do it lying down and I practiced a little earlier and everything seemed "good to go" but I know not everyone here is the same and of course personal situations differ I can afford to walk around with tape and a ratchet around my kneck lol some live with family etc and feel rushed but to those people I ask make sure you take your time with this and make sure if it's what you are going to do to get it right to avoid unnecessary suffering. <3

This is still my plan B if I decide to go (although I now have a plan C which is effectively my new plan A), and that's exactly what I was planning to do.

It is when you follow the instructions given and take your time with it.
I will be using this method soon and am 100% certain in it's success before then if you need advice feel free to message me here read the mega thread first.

I was referring to using your fingers, not the bag / ratchet method when lying down. As they both are slightly different in practice.

And even fingers might work while lying down, but I haven't had any specific success with finding the right point easily while in that position. So it might be different for everyone who tries it or how they lay down.

Notably the bag / ratchet or duct tape method doesn't have that specific issue, so I'd assume it would work great while lying down, but I don't have the desire to test it, because it might be permanent and I'm not quite ready to CTB yet!

Is it the tourniquet method? I read about and saw pictures of people who had simply used a piece of cloth or a stocking, tied it with a square knot, inserted a spoon (one elderly man used his cane) and twisted until they passed. Some of the pictures were in "The Five Last Acts." Also read about an elderly lady who used this method under the covers in her hospital bed!

This is just my personal preference, but I intend to sit on the edge of my bed as I place the ratchet and bags where they need to be. I will then lay down in the center of my bed, on my side, and tighten the ratchet to the necessary pressure. From there, I will either lie down on my back, or pass out on my side and slump over on to my back. Either way, the result is the same.

Also, I will be restraining myself with hand and foot cuffs made of rope. They are easy to get out of while conscious if necessary, but damn near impossible to accidentally pull apart while unconscious. Nothing too fancy, I will be lying on top of the rope that connects the two handcuffs, so my hands with be secured at my sides by my own body weight. But again, easy to release myself if necessary. Now, whether or not I will be conscious long enough to slip my hands into the cuffs and quickly pull them tight is the real question. Just a backup measure more than anything, to keep me from knocking anything loose in case I thrash around.

I wouldn't be able to do any this standing up for the same reason I couldn't do partial suspension hanging: I'm just not comfortable with the idea of falling down. On the off-chance that the attempt fails, I don't want to have to deal with a potentially busted face and broken bones on top of knowing that my attempt failed.

Plus, falling over could potentially knock the ratchet or bags loose. Better to keep everything everything secure and stable.

I see what you mean, trapping the artery with fingers trickier than with bags.

Wonder if there's also a gravity effect compared to standing when of course it's harder anyway for the blood to push up through to the brain sometimes resulting in natural dizziness.

Can I use a belt instead of the ratchet? How can I exercise on this? Will the pressure on the neck be uncomfortable?

Help me, I'm running out of time.

When you compress your carotid arteries, do you push inward like the direction of you stuck your fingers in your ears, or straight back like if you were going to poke yourself in the eye

Can anyone weigh in on if Beanie Babies (yes, the toys from the 90s) would work? I imagine they should since they're similarly dense and can't be compressed due to hard filling, just like cornhole bags?

Are you sure that method is painless?

Have anyone tried this method and successfully ctb?
If they were successful, they can't post because they died ‍♀️

Are u supposed to get thunderclap if you do this right? From what i understand u have to press the carotid sinus/bifurcation to induce syncope but apparently that doesn't cause thunderclap??

Tried experimenting with 2 pairs of socks folded up military style and a belt (the one without holes) and I'm having no luck. Feels like I'm just choking myself. No luck yet though. Will have to keep trying.

Here is a completely dumb question, would a ratchet and a potato work? In PPH the woman uses a potato and a yoga mat (as a ratchet replacement)

I don't have access to cornhole bags so I made my own (See Attached). I think I have the right position but I am not coming close to blacking out. I hear my pulse pounding by my ears and my vision dims a little. I am wondering whether the one inch thickness is too much. Any advice from someone who has come close to blacking out with this method would be appreciated.
