There are a couple different reasons, I hope this eases some of our worries about it if you CTB.

1. Infinite punishment or reward comes from finite good or wrong doing. When people are judged to going to hell they are judged based on their finite and limited actions. No matter how horrible these actions are they are limited. But they are punished or rewarded for these actions infinitely. Imagine if someone stole $5 from you, and in response you tortured them for the rest of there life, or imagine if someone gave you $5 and in response you gave them 2 billion. Hell/Heaven is that, multiplied by infinity. Since the punishment or reward is infinite, and the actions that cause them finite, the punishment or reward, by definition, are infinitely times better or worse than the actions that "caused" them.

2. Unequal opportunity in judgement. I'll give an example; You chance of suicide can be greatly affected by your height, tall men are less likely to attempt or commit suicide, if suicide is sinful, how many people would have committed suicide if they were shorter and gone to Hell, and how many would have gone to heaven if they were taller? Wether you suffered eternal damnation or pleasure was for a large portion of people literally down to height, not actions. Do serial killers chose to kill? Would they have committed those sins if they were born without mental illness or psychopathy? How many criminals would have been upstanding citizens if they were born into a good home? This goes on and on, there are hundreds of factors which have play on your decisions, and millions of people that would have gone to Hell if placed in someone else's shoes, or would have gone to Heaven.

3. There is no defined code of good and bad actions, there is no guidance on what actions one is supposed to take, what faith to follow, etc. There are HUNDREDS of religious sects and faiths, all with different beliefs that clash with each other, and have been constantly evolving over THOUSANDS of years. The truth of what are good and bad actions to take is a mystery, and it isn't reasonable to expect one to all the right decisions. Adding on, there are tons of cultures that have clashing beliefs too. Your acceptance into heaven or banishment to Hell was mostly determined by where you were born, and your culture. It's like punishing someone for not doing something right, when you never even provided the instructions.

Couple of problems with this take.

For one, this assumes media depictions of heaven and hell are the reality of what heaven and hell are. Once upon a time before landfills, trash was burned. Hell is where all of the garbage is burned to a crisp. The amount of burning someone in hell will have to do (no one is burning yet, more on that later) is in proportion to the amount they have sinned. The smoke of satan's torment will burn forever. A stillborn infant will combust spontaneously. Nor is heaven a cloud world where winged people play harps, heaven is a kingdom that will be established onto the planet earth. No one is in heaven. Death is merely sleep until the day of resurrection. Some of us will resurrect into eternal life, and some to eternal death.

Two, reality is objective, and morality is objective. Confusion on what reality and morality are, and their constant changing in the culture over the years, does not change that. It is our duty to be willing to give up everything we know and understand to discover, and live out, the true reality and morality.
