When you watch American sitcoms there are some jokes about this topic. European women that don't wear a top on a beach. Or even complete nude beaches.
Recently I read a piece about nude communities in my country. In East Germany they were more popular. Under socialism the notion was popular under our cloths were are all equal/the same.
The nude communities shrink and shrink though. There are not many young Germans who still want to participate in them. And the internet culture is blamed for it. Of course you can easily end up on the internet. Moreover, online we compare our bodies with beauty standards and develop insecurities because of that. Actually, I only now one person in my family who ever went to a nude beach. But we never discussed this in-depth. I hated the concept very early on. It feels invasive to one's privacy.
And I don't buy it that all the people there can differentiate between nudity and sexuality. I can very well understand why a young woman feels uncomfortable to join nude communities full of horny old men. Maybe that's too much of a generalization though.
