I think in some cases suicidal people are behind them. Lol. But I also know counterexamples.
My dad made an inappropriate joke about someone who committed suicide when i was a child when we played one video game. He made a joke about Robert Enke a German goalkeeper that committed suicide. But my dad also held the convinction that people who commit suicide must be stupid. At least he thought that in the past and he also explained me his "view" on it.To be fair my dad is really dumb and ignorant.

I think I feel comfortable on SaSu because I have to mask way less. On here I can show a lot of things I have to hide in real life. I think I try to extremely controlled and I am very strict in how others could perceive me. I try to avoid any negative interpretations possible. Or I try to address my own self-hatred when opening up about a nasty trait of myself. Like for example in exactly this thread.

I often make tasteless jokes with my friends about a lot of stuff. I am here with Slavoj Zizek that you can make very fucked up jokes if you don't mean it seriously. Considering some conditions. An example Zizek explains he jokes with his Eastern European friends that they rape each other their dead mothers. I know controversial. I think it is very important to consider many factors when making such jokes. There was a dark humor thread in this forum. And I have to say the humor was as extreme as it could get and I was in favor of deleting it. The issue on the internet. You don't know the audience. And there are bad actors who use such jokes to make it acceptable in our society to spread racism, anti-semitism, hate crimes of all kinds. I sometimes like politicially incorrect jokes. I grew up with The Boondocks. But I would not do politically incorret jokes with people who actually be in favor of politically incorrect policies and all of this anti-woke bullshit.

I have sometimes a crazy humor with friends. I have some limits and often either my friends should get annoyed and teased or I am the butt of the joke. But I would never tease them on an issue where they were actually insecure about. I would never do that. My jokes should not hurt anyone. And I actually I don't think I harm anyone if applying certain standards and when all people understand them as jokes. I can only make such jokes when I know the people are good people. There are some constraints I have and maybe this fact makes me a hypocrite. But I am not sure. For example if I was part of a certain minority I would understand making jokes about the own community. I don't say that only the things I joke about should be universally acceptable.

I was at a party with friends. And I cracked one fucked up joke about suicide. It wasn't refering to anyone in this forum. But I am not sure why I dropped this joke. I like the shock factor. But honestly there is a thought I had that felt similar to one that David Foster Wallace had. He wanted his loved ones to know that he deserved dying by suicide. Currently I hide my suicidalit more in front of my friends. And I struggle to do that. I am not sure I had the feeling I want them to remember me also with this joke. But it is really ambivalent. Maybe a cry of help. Or that I cope with dark humor. But when I commit suicide in the future and they look back at our time I sort of want them to wonder what was going in my mind in all this time. Maybe I wanted them to know there is something off and that I have really dark thoughts even if I don't show them. I think my friends cannot really imagine what it would be like if they lost me. Because I often don't show them the abyss. ANd maybe they would feel worse thinking I actually liked my life or it wasn't that bad. They once told me something like that.

I don't always like suicide jokes. I am in the habit of when something little goes wrong when I am already upset I say "I'm going to kill myself". It can be over not being able to find something. I am not serious but it just started because I get so pissed off. And I piss myself off by saying it but it is such a reflex.

I don't think suicide jokes are tasteless but I do think they are immature as an adult. Dark humor has always seemed immature to me because you are cracking the same jokes a ignorant teenager/kid would. I was making bigoted jokes at 12, why would I want to have the same humor I did as I was 12? At some point I want to mature and evolve my humor into something that actually relies on personality and thought.

At 12 suicide jokes weren't funny to me though because that's when my issues hit and I was going to inpatients. A girl made a joke when we were doing superlatives in 8th grade. She said "(Name) would win for most suicidal". It hurt that it seemed like people just wanted me dead and didn't care if I was gone, it was just a joke. I have anger sometimes but I don't hold it against that person too much because we were kids and they couldn't understand the gravity of the situation, I couldn't myself even.

I also think some dark humor is propaganda. I can't remember it fully but it was something misogynistic. I read the comments and there was one person saying "TikTok is making me misogynistic" with replies agreeing and multiple likes. Algorithms can lead people into an echo chamber of what they want to hear and people push out videos for engagement and to push an agenda. Andrew Tate was trying to get young men into a terrible lifestyle that he was pushing (that turned out to be fake) and basically grooming them online because he has a hatred for woman and doesn't respect them, he wanted more men in that lifestyle.

Another example of propaganda that I think is more obvious is the body cam video accounts. They are pushing an agenda, they will show people like autistics, people with MH issues, addicts , transgenders, woman, black people, etc. The comments will be filled with hate towards these individuals and the group they belong to yet these accounts keep posting. They know what they are doing and they are trying to get young people attention.

Also, dark humor jokes tend to lead a lot of people down the wrong path. It's known as the alt-right pipeline because people will see content that is supposed to be humorous at the surface but deeper the continuous bigoted content gets in the brain and can change how you think. It keeps getting pushed to them because of algorithms.

I think suicide jokes can be immature but okay but racism, misogyny, rape, etc. can't be okay because it normalizes it and changes the way you think.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I can elaborate. I am not the best writer when it comes to getting my thoughts out.
