Personally, I am very careful with the information about me you can find on the internet. Sometimes I change details in the stories I post on here.
And I am really careful with information that could identify me. But there are large difference in defining what being careful on here actually means.
You don't find information about my real identitiy on the internet. When I meet new people I often search for the full name of them on google. And many people do way less op-sec than me. Some people don't even know what is out there about them. They sometimes even use their clear names on several public accounts.
I don't have many accounts on the internet except my SaSu account.
There is a reform of the German intellligence services. And compared to the Five-Eyes the German laws are more far more restrictive. Though the data octopus grows. I read an article and they want access to many critical sources of information. They want to be able to buy private data from commericalized surveillance as service companies. Like the analytical tool Webloc that buys ad data.
Personally, there were different ways in how I looked for information about me online. I looked for example for data breaches. Thus far I could not find any. Maybe the tools I used are used were too weak. I guess intelligence services probably use far superior tools. I don't have access to Palantir. Lol.
When I was younger I was even more paranoid about data security and I think I also would have restricted me from posting on here. Though there was a critical conjuncture. The time when I contemplated to create a dating app account. I really hated the idea to upload a picture from me on that app. But finding a significant other is such a strong desire. After a long time weighing up the pros and cons I decided to create an account. I was pretty naive to that time and I had close to zero success with my first attempts on dating apps. It is still a very frustrating experience as man.
When it comes to data security talking with chatbots is probably also a big mistake even when you disable the allowance to use your data as training material. But my suffering is so overwhelming that I take everything that is offered to me in order to make me survive this pain. Some decide for drugs. I decide for chatbots. I am not sure what is worse when it comes to data privacy. Talking to chatbots or having a social media account. It might depend whether the social media account is under your clear name.
My biggest risks are the dating apps and my chatbot accounts I guess. And probably my SaSu account. Though I don't regret using them. Thus far...Moreover, I could imagine this forum might be shut down forever in the future. And most of my posts would be gone....
There was something insane in the capital of my country. The data protection software of Berlin's senate was pretty outdated. And hackers were able to get access to very very sensitive data. From critical infrastructure, Berlin's citizens and many more. It is pretty insane. That's a gift for Russia and bad actors. The hackers demanded 2 million Euros otherwise they upload the data on the darknet. The institutions rejected the offer. (Many experts considered this the right choice.) And now much sensitive data is on the dark net. It is a disaster. Even if you are extremely careful as citizen with your data security things like that can happen. And soon there will be election in Berlin....and oh wonder who will profit from this scandal?
