I recently started actually bandaging my SH cuts (I am quite the bad boy lol), and I noticed how comfy it felt. It's almost like the gauze is a warm and caring palm, gently cradling my thigh and healing it. It feels so serene and beautiful. I'm digging this feeling. It's amazing.
Also, am I slipping into depression? Nothing makes me happy anymore. Is that anhedonia or is my brain finally giving up?

Self harm can be a coping strategy that provides a feeling of control in an environment that is out of control. However, it is not a good long term strategy as it really doesn't solve anything. At some point you may have to consider what steps you can take to control the larger issues. Some have found a degree of success transitioning from self-harm to something like exercise to give a feeling of control.

This is for sure true for some people but is far from the only reason why people SH. For example, like OP I enjoy the associated sensations and aesthetics, as well as the emotional aspects. It brings me peace at times of deep deep distress. I don't think it solves anything. But it is something that is beneficial in my life even if 99.9% of people wouldn't be able to understand that.

Well, it definitely sounds like you're slipping into depression. Anhedonia is one of the main tells of depression, alongside other things like loss of appetite and insomnia (but these are only 3 of 13 symptoms)

I can totally relate to that feeling. I accidently cut too deep a few months ago (nothing serious, just some styro cuts that were wayyy too messy to leave be) and had to bandage it for the first time in awhile. I think I kind of liked the routine of cleaning and redressing everything daily. It felt like I was being productive, in a sense. I mostly just wish the supplies weren't so expensive lol.
