So im thinking about purchasing a plastic bag and at night i will secure and make the bag air tight by wrapping some big rubber bands i have around my neck.. i infact tried this before and unlike other methods which dont allow you to physically breathe this method was easier for me.. i just for 2-5 minutes was breathing into a bag in ans out.. in and out.. then of course my heart starts racing and my survival instinct wants to force me to take it off.. but i keep going like a warrior not giving up.. i start to get a bit nausous but it goes away.. and then after a bit i start to see my vision slowly turning black.. or fading in some sense.. STUPID FUCKING ME took the plastic bag off when i was about to passout (and it wasent because of SI) it was because i got into the awful mindset of "okay i will do it later" and then "okay i will do it tomorrow" And then i never managed to do it.. i dont want to live i hate my life.. im 20 and my family bully and harass me.. they talk down on me.. i need out.. im not allowed to leave mu house or even move out without their permission.. i just.. dont know. I hate life so much that i want to stomp on it so much but my body is forcing me to live it out by making me so anxious with brain chemicals trying to manipulate me into not killing myself.. with temporary feelings like "dopemine" and "serotonin" which is my body lying to me telling me everything will be okay just so i dont kill myself.. i dont care about my stupid brain or heart anymore.. if they were smart they would make me unconscious or take control of me so that they remain safe and content.

No.. i cant do it. I want to soo bad.. but survival instinct is making me panic with c02 buildup now. Damn you life! *middle finger*
Had it over my head for a couple of minutes but then i took it off because i couldnt breathe.. i might look into c02 absorbent media

I have been there and tried this.. It just doesn't works. SI kicks in, no matter how hard we try this. That's why inert gas methods are there.
Wish you luck and peace.

With a strong motivation and willpower this should be doable (some people succeded according to media), but most suiciders hardly accept challenges like this.

Its like once im in the plastic bag for about 1-2 minutes its manageable but then my brain starts hallucinating false voices like "i want to live" and "i dont want to die" when that is not true.. i want to die because im 20 and i dont own my own life.. my life belongs to my family.. my mom is going to force me to live with her in 1 month and even my 11 year old brother who lives with my mom told me in secret he wants to kill himself because of how bad it is with his mom.. like i just cant.. my mom is the devil incarnate and my family dont give me a choice in anything i want to do and disregard me.. i promise i will be treated like a 11 year old kid if i go over there.. i need to end this NOW.. but i cant and it hurts me that i dont love myself enough to be able to kill myself. To protect myself from this awful world.. i been thinking of combining handcuffs with the plastic bag method

Contradicting wishes are common, and there is a term for this called suicidal ambivalence. Your CTB attempt can be easily interrupted due to anxiety even with asphyxiation by inert gas or N2O (which could be generally considered "peaceful" CTB methods) if you don't fully believe that what you're doing is right.

The thing with plastic bag suffocation is its very easy to test and abort with no damage once you get to the panic stage. I've tested it myself with no intention of reaching the panic stage. The biggest problem with this method is even if you do black out your body will probably tear of the bag.

Hell, people with really strong motivation and willpower can even ctb simply by holding their breath! No bag needed! They just have to accept the challenge. (Come on, dude...)

That's unlikely, because after you pass out, you won't be able to control your muscles anymore and breathing will probably be resumed without you realizing it. However, if you hold your breath underwater long enough, you can lose consciousness and CTB by drowning.

I know what I'm telling about, because once I accepted a similar challenge, but it was not about plastic bags and CTB-ing. I wanted to hold my breath underwater as long as possible. Despite having hyperventilation done before submerging, I faced with a very strong urge to breathe at some moment. Then I managed to overcome that urge (it was far from easy) and almost blacked out. By the way, shortly before fading of consciousness I didn't feel the urge to breathe anymore, it just disappeared. If I didn't react quickly on the sense of impending fainting back then, I could be dead by now.

If you're underwater holding your breath for as long as you can SI will kick in and you will breathe in, your lungs will fill with water, then you will loose consciousness and drown. People who have almost died from drowning have testified it's not a pleasant experience.

But you must be the first person I encounter that has overcome human instinct. You're not a Tibetan monk by any chance, are you?

Let's name things by their real terms instead of pseudo-scientific bullshit memes like SI. A strong urge to breathe and involuntary contractions of the chest induced by hypercapnia are related to reflexes. Although you can't do anything to avoid those contractions, aspiration of water can be prevented by compressing the nose using a hand and keeping the mouth closed. This requires a lot of effort, but it's doable, at least if you don't have to struggle for too long.

Keep in mind that hyperventilation significantly delays the moment before the urge to breathe appears, and it seems that a very low level of O2 in the blood or a very high level of CO2 in the blood, or the combination of these two conditions suppresses the aforementioned respiratory reflexes, so the time of distress may be very limited. In my case, the overall time of intense struggling was probably less than a minute.

Instincts are overrated, people can endure a severe discomfort when they're strongly motivated to do so.

Good for u , well done , not sure why u are still on this forum if its as easy as u suggest?

Its not the same for everyone ! its relative to lots of things , phsyiology between ppl differs massivley, emotions , pyschology of the individual i.e. where they are at etc etc ... omg You're almost dissing this person because they cant do what u claim is possible. Everythings relative to the individual!

Wish it was as easy as u claim..... eye roll emoji x10

I hardly understand the meaning of "its as easy as u suggest" being said about something described with words "with a strong motivation and willpower", "it was far from easy", "requires a lot of effort".

I decided to mention that suffocation with a plastic bag may work, because there is a common misconception that this method never works. The following link provides a proof.

Strong motivation and willpower were mentioned as the likely necessary preconditions for carrying out a successful CTB with this technique, with no intention to judge anyone.

It may be worth trying in case if the choice of available CTB methods is very limited and there is no an opportunity to use any suitable asphyxiant gas (such as N2O or R-134a) or poisonous gas (such as CO, H2S, HCN, or even CO2) that could make breathing inside a plastic bag either discomfort-free or at least significantly less unpleasant.

Did you try this method with sedatives and a larger bag?
