If I was born with the same access to mental health, life experiences, shelter, and financial opportunities the rich are I probably wouldn't be suicidal. That's really optimistic though because I've never known anything other than my life. Desire may be the root of suffering after all lol

No. Unfortunately, no matter the life I lead, I tend to gravitate towards misery. It is an unfortunate truth I've come to realize over the past few years. It seems as though I am the problem, above all else. I cannot see any way to mend my issues aside from eradicating myself.

I don't know why I am this way. I wish I could change, but that does not seem likely at this stage in the game. Too bad...I did once think that I had something worthwhile to offer (kindness, sympathy, etc), but now I spend my days locked inside a prison of my own making.

Ive had unlimited access to free healthcare, mental health resources, a roof over my head, money in my pocket. I literally don't have to do anything. Obviously I have enough disabilities to have that access but I still don't want to exist here.

I think that the majority of suicidal people still would prefer to live instead of being dead if there was a solution to their problems that are causing them a bad life.

In my case I'm suicidal bc of a big failure in life, that causes me problems and depressive episodes. Currently my situation isn't bad but also not very good and I'm hardly suicidal. I really would prefer to live instead of dying but I also don't want to live a life that's not worth living if things become worse.

I don't think a better life will fix the problem for most.

There are plenty of rich and powerful who CTB.

Depression doesn't care about your bank balance 😕

However people frame it up, suicidal thoughts are caused by depression, not life circumstances. Yes, life situation can of course make depression worse, or make treatment difficult, but just a life style change is unlikely to work.

There are a lot of people who are suicidal because they are trapped in difficult circumstances. They aren't suffering from clinical depression and most of them don't really want to die. If they were able to improve their current circumstances and have a better life, they would no longer be suicidal.

There are examples where people would have lived, if they did not have an irreversible fate, pushing them to CTB.
-Short stature as an adult.
-Being ugly.
-Intellectual retardation, mental illnesses, judged by society, by others.
-Being blind, deaf, amputated (diseased limbs) or without limbs from birth.
-Born under X without the possibility of finding their biological parents.
-School harassment, sexual harassment, etc., all trauma since childhood, accidents of life, anything that can cause post-traumatic stress.
-Loss of loved ones.
-Imprisonment for a wrongful judgment, kidnappings, arbitrary detentions, forced hospitalizations.
-School training, higher education, professions, etc., inaccessible, due to lack of means, health, discrimination, disabilities.
-discrimination, humiliation, abuse, that the victim will never be able to erase from his head, it is so traumatic.
-Aging knowing that one has missed or had one's life stolen (robbed because of mistreatment, poverty, hospitalizations, disabilities, detentions on wrongful judgments...)!
-people always infantilized, inferiorized, living in a paternalistic world, etc.
-reputation tarnished because of gossip, wrongful judgments, disabilities (especially those that are mental), etc.
Hence the interest in controlling births, childhood, etc., controlling parents, monitoring. A child is precious, his life is built, and must not be in the hands of bad parents, selfish parents, bad environment, bad school, etc.

True for me. Having a loving partner and a fulfilling job would make all the difference in my life. Even just the former would probably be enough to fill me with the will to live. I've never been loved by another person, not even my parents, so I don't know what it feels like but from what I've heard from others, it sounds like the most amazing and life-changing thing.

People suffer for the things the don't have. If you have a happy life, the thought of suicide would be less common. Life isn't always happy, but if most part of it is, it's worth living

I would have preferred never to come into this world, personally. Especially if I knew what my life would be like.

I am afraid of coming back alive if I am dead (reincarnation for example). Are there people who think the same thing?

whether it is or isn't, i'd like to hear your reasoning if you're comfortable with sharing.

for me, i guess it is. if i wasn't undoubtedly cursed and finally got even a little bit of the popularity and attention i've craved my entire life but have never gotten even a sliver of, if i was talented in what i want to do, and if it stayed like that, i might want to live.
Yes, I agree with that statement. The problem is, the laws of physics in this universe don't allow for a perfect painless life. But if they changed, theoretically life could be without anything negative, and then the statement is true.

i want my brain to function properly, i want a normal brain like everyone else. then everything would b easy, i would have an amazing life with no problems. but i cant do anything abt my brain. its damaged. i just have to sit here n hope it eventually gets better. if it doesnt, then im not capable of adult life without constant extreme suffering, so obviously id choose to die instead of being in agony for decades, unable to enjoy a single second im alive

I wouldn't have become suicidal if I wasn't neglected as a child. If I was loved, and had the attention I craved during my formative years, I wouldn't have developed suicidal feelings, and I would avoided a lot of abuse later in life.

The lack of care created a hole inside of me, now no matter what I do that hole will never be filled. I wasn't born broken, I was raised that way, and these things take more money and time then most of us have to heal from.

Maybe if I was loved a little more, or given a little more attention, I wouldn't have become this way. I would of enjoyed life, been able to love and be loved. But it's too late for that now. I think if right now, if I was given everything I wanted in the present day, it wouldn't be enough, and I'd ctb anyways. If it was past tense, when I was younger, maybe I would of learned how to live, and continued to live a happy and healthy life.

This is completely true for me, my inability to have have my child has taken away all meaning and value in my life, but if I had her in my arms right now, there were truly be no cause for grief in my life. I have endured so much, and I can endure more, but only if I had that thing that gives it meaning

I will argue that even in the event that I kill myself, it was the circumstances that surround the event which made me do it. It's like having your hand on something really hot. Are you going to say that the man who removes his hand did so freely? Of course not, it was an option chosen out of the lack of options.
I'm in financial stress, got no skills, and feel braindead (about <80 iq) which means stress and shame unless I become a monk overnight. The options aren't exactly luxurious right now

Personally, no, all I can see happen is that my life is extended until the body starts shutting down so somewhere in the mid thirties. I'm going to die from suicide, this is how it is, this is what I want because I hate the world we live in. I don't like most humans and they are often incomprehensible to me.
