I have a hiatal hernia. Can this negatively affect SN use? I don't want to use hanging
Hiatal Hernias arent caused by obesity., theyre usually age related, and may be caused by injury to that area, or from intense/persistent pressure on surrounding muscles. You can also be born with Hiatal henias. Obesity is a big risk factor though.
I dont know whether you have any symptoms at all? I know some people have alot of problems with heart burn, acid reflux etc. So I do wonder whether taking SN may aggravate acid production and cause pain and discomfort for you should you decide to use this method given your condition?
I am not too familiar with the SN Method but from a brief look at Stans SN Protocol in the resource section, it recommends the use of Antiemetics and Antacids.
The purposed of antiemetics is to help the SN remain in your stomach by reducing vomiting reflex.
The purpose of Antacids is to to help the movement of SN into your gut. One of the components of gastric juices is hydrochloric acid (HCL). When SN mixes with HCL, it converts to regular salt (NaCL).The antacid helps reduce that conversion so more SN moves into the small intestine. If there is excess salt in your stomach it can produce stomach discomfort which makes Antacids a good choice.
If you are thinking about using the SN Method, It may be neccesary for you to increase the amount of antacid/antiemetic given your condition? It might be worth just investigating this a bit further.Just a thought.
