It could help, but at what cost? You could also bring in some different stuff. Like metal, something a little quicker. Sabbath and Zeppelin usually help me 'up', and I've long suspected it was for the rythm section. When jazz musicians go heavy, it's something else. Sinatra is a real mind blower for the depressed, sometimes. So weightless and natural, but it's an acquired taste.

It could also help to accept that depression and sadness are normal states to be in. Prolly half the people you know are in it, whether they're smiling and laughing or not. Fighting and hating these states cause a lot more grief than was ever necessary, I think. I'm no expert, tho. When I get real down, I'll put on Floyd or Korn and really sink into it, let it wash over me. Experience the crash as much as I can knowing it'll end. Sometimes. Jesus, only sometimes, like when it's really unshakable, and has to be endured.

When I was super depressed I mainly listened to depressed music, for me it helped but also made it worst, I'm not saying listening to happy go lucky music, but listen to stuff that has energy to it, I kinda went into Japanese gothic metal, which has a lot of energy but it's a personal taste thing soo

I hope you find peace in life or death

Music is essentiel. Let you cry as much as you want. A way to let your pain go out. A common view of your feelings. Lyrics that sounds in you.
How can we live without ?
Ps : almost all names quoted are honey for me...

maybe youre like me, where i have to listen to music because i cant stand my thoughts, i cant be alone in a quiet room, it makes me irrationally angry and extremely suicidal. the solution is *supposedly* to stop listening to music all the time and ground yourself, focusing on breathwork and really be present in the moment. but that doesnt work for me because it makes shit ten times worse.

If the music is really influencing your mood to be bad, you should try listening less music or just a different type.

I could not imagine no longer listening to music. I almost constantly having music playing. I have different playlists for different moods I'm feeling/want to feel. Music has the potential to change your mood. If you want to be more energetic, listen to more upbeat, high tempo music. If you want to feel hopeful, find music with lyrics that speak to you. If you want to feel sad, there's plenty out there for that. In my opinion a life without music sounds insufferable.
