people are always trying to find a quick and easy and painless method..... Well, electricity is kind of dangerous, and you are supposed to avoid using things like hair dryers in the bathtub because what if you drop it and you get electrocued? then you would be dead, and that wouldn't be very good now would it.......

so but seriously, i know this is a naive question maybe, but as long as the toaster or electrical appliance isn't plugged in to one of those safety sockets with the reset/test buttons, then what is wrong with just dropping an electrical appliance in to the bathtub?.. i think the electricity would kill your heart instantly or some thing?.. can some expert on this tell me why this isn't the #1 method instead of having to do things like find SN sources and stuff?..

hell, now that i think of it...... as far as quick and easy and painless..... what if some one is walking around outside like "la la laa....... oops i accidentally fell down on to these random railroad tracks right before a train ran over them"............

i'm thinking there must actually be simple and easy methods in actuality and maybe most people are making it too complicated some times?.. i dunno, enlighten me..

do those always flip off in time to make toaster bath useless then or what?.. and even if they do wouldn't you be fine?.. and plus, you could just drill a small metal link thingy to the switch or what ever so that it can't possibly flip to the off position..

Regarding electrocution, I do wonder why no people seem to consider the third rail? If you have a metro system in your city, you can simply go on the tracks, hold onto the third rail with one hand, and the tracks with the other -- boom! I've heard of MULTIPLE graffiti writers accidently dying this way.

Probably not a great way to die though, in terms of peacefulness, as you get fucking toasted alive.

Well, it's not instant. It causes agonising pain and intense muscle spasms.

You'd have to create an arm to arm path for the electricity to cross over your chest to have a chance at this. Water, in its pure form is not a good conductor. You'd have to add lots of salt which drops resistance and can actually allow a fatal shock else you'd just feel a stinging or have some burn.

Even then, it's not a guarantee, you'd likely end up with severe burns, disfigurement, etc. If your heart stops, you could be resuscitated and survive with brain damage.

And this is all assuming there aren't any GFCI outlets, circuit breakers won't really stop anything. You can be fatally shocked at less than an ampere if voltage is high and resistance is low (the reason for the salty water)

They flip off at, and even if the switch can't move there is a secundary and even tertiary safety built into modern circuit breakers.

do you know what would happen if some one cut a cord to some appliance in half and used the half that has the plug, and with the side that is cut they strip it to expose the wires and duct-tape one (positive) wire to one wrist, and the other wire (negative) to the other wrist, and then plug the thing in to a (non-GFCI) wall socket? it would just be electricity straight on to your skin i guess.. would that do any thing?..

Well, it's still messy

The muscle spasms are really violent (people get thrown across a room, bones broken, etc) , the tape could come off or the plug could get pulled.
It would also be really really painful. Say, maybe the current passes through the heart, (that's a big maybe btw) then yeah it would be excruciating 10 or so seconds before you're unconscious. If it doesn't pass through the heart, then you'd be in pain till something physically breaks the connection, maybe a muscle spasm breaking the tape or sth, if nothing breaks the connection, then you could essentially be killed, you'd be cooked alive though.

It is still going to flip the switch in the circuit box in your house.

am electrician and have been shocked, many times (big difference between shock and electrocution). peaceful it is not, you literally cook while your muscles tense up so hard you can't do anything about it. explosions are possible and it's all-around not a good time.

Reality may not be like a movie.
As soon as an electrical leak occurs in the bathtub,
your home's earth leakage circuit breaker (ELB) will trip.
It is highly likely that you will fail to perform a CTB and will be left with injuries and disabilities caused by electric shock.
In a 220V environment, it is extremely rare for a person to die instantly from an electric shock. Even if you were to be electrocuted, it would take a very long time to die, and the process would be accompanied by immense pain.
If you want to die instantly from an electric shock, you would have to expose yourself to ultra-high-voltage currents, such as those found in a building's main distribution panel, a transformer, or a power transmission line.
These are places that are not easily accessible to the general public.

Toaster in bath is only in the movies. Yea gfci in the bathroom would cut the electricity. N definitely getting hit by a train would be painless...not

I had an ex use this method as a threat towards me when I tried to break up with him. The threat was awful and traumatic and nobody cared about what it did to me. Obviously I made sure he didn't hurt himself and kept my feelings to myself while making sure he didn't do that. I was pretty pissed after. I have been suicidal for years now and off and on some before that, and in my experience you want the least painful most effective method possible usually. I mean I guess some people want to go out with a bang but I feel like it would go horribly awry in reality.. one way or the other.. you're looking for a simple fast effective method. We all are. A lot of us are here not because of fear of death but fear of insane level pain before death.. which doctors know full well that's why a lot more suicides don't happen and exploit that to their advantage.. get another person sucked into a pointless draining health care system that doesn't care about you.. that nobody can afford. Likely you'll fail. Then you'll be out in a psych ward for a hot minute. Get everybody in your life up in arms and pissed off.. and eventually everybody in your life slowly but surely dwindles off and wants nothing to do with you anymore. Usually not because you're a bad person, but they can't handle the weight of reality.. they can't handle the weight of the severity of the situation and most people aren't even kind of close to having made any real peace with the fact we all die.. death scares people. Instead of them seeing you as having some peace for the first time and getting it forever, they see it as their loss. Your death isn't about you. Which is sick. It's about how it makes them feel.. you'll see people in here. I saw just 12 hours ago, some religious nut job telling us all we should stay here no matter how bad of a person we think we are. They still see our suicide as we think we're the bad people. I can see why her brother maybe ctb'd.. in my experience my suicidal tendencies or anybody else's had hardly anything to do with the fact they felt like a bad person. That's an extremely distorted and deluded perception to have about suicidal people. It's usually because weirdos like that or others are bad people to us and we can't take it anymore.. that's a gross misunderstanding of it all.. then you see an idiot like that and it almost compels me to throw a toaster in the bath tub.. and throwing a toaster in the bath tub is a bad way to go when there are so many other options.. way less painful.. it's a funny dark joke especially for anybody like ourselves but it's just that.. a bit of a joke.. but yeah some of the weirdo Jesus frwaks, not judging if you're religious.. but I figure a lot of people are done with religion if they're here and rightfully so.. they come in here.. you're and because you have your feelings but even if you think you're bad you should stay alive so a Jesus freak like me can make you feel guilty about your feelings the rest of your life.. it's baffling.. when most Christians I know are some of the most corrupt evil people I ever met.. the world catering constantly to idiots like they are a large reason why I'm ready to end it.. like seeing people like that make me ready to throw a toaster in the bath tub myself just to make a point.. so I trust me I get it.. just snap and end it all.. because you can't take the idiots anymore. By the way I'm from the American South where catering to the oh so perfect Christian idiot girl is just another Friday night baby.. little blond ones too. I love Jesus and Murica and maga and yee haw.. it's THE Jesus in these parts.. trust me it's enough to make you want to rip your shirt off and scream crazy crap and throw a toaster in the bath tub.. if I have to talk to another trad wife wannabe blond idiot.. I just might.. who knows.. maybe they'll get lucky and I'll develop a long overdue drinking problem instead.. anyways unless you live in some ancient house with ancient electrical outlets which is unlikely.. you'll blow the fuse box before you blow yourself off the planet.. and cause yourself painful injury, end up in the hospital forever or for a hot minute and upset, worry, and piss everybody you know off. They'll be on to you. You don't want that.. trust me.. it's annoying.. and they have no idea their annoying tactics and feelings only make you worse.. and then you're a moody beast of the likes they can't handle anymore. Then you're thrown into a giant circle from which you can't get out of no matter how much you try.. whatever you do. I don't know if you're religious or not. If you're serious about wanting to die, I wouldn't turn towards religion. It's nothing but a guilt trap and it won't help you.. or if you change your mind and want to live. Religion is nothing but a guilt trap. It won't help you.. I've done the leg work for it all.. it's all a scam.. and a toaster in the bath tub has a certain religious flare to it all doesn't it? Seems theatric.. but if that's how you want to go.. if you're trying to make a point.. look up how not to trip your circuit breaker and have a show.. if you want to end it quickly.. I'd say gun shot is the most effective and fastest least painless method of all.. just being real about what seems to work.. not much anybody can do about a gun shot to the head.. not even a doctor.. if you decide to get help and that's valid.. not deterring you or trying to influence you either way.. that's their big giant philosophical existential problem with it all.. the doctors.. trying to outpace the methodology of it all.. but even the doctors are wary of letting much religion into any of it.. they're aware of their scam too.. and a toaster in the bath tub is an urban myth.. a scam.. good funny dark joke though.. it's kind of like the Hollywood theatrics of slitting your wrists.. nice on screen but highly ineffective and is usually seen as a cry for help rather than an actual attempt.. and you can mess up your arms really bad and to the point you can't even use your hands anymore and you have to live with that and being suicidal.. I've already done loads of research in the topic.. had a few attempts myself.. never did the cutting thing.. because it's not effective and just comes off as attention seeking.. just seems like pain for pain sake and I have enough pain from life itself already.. same for the toaster.. pain for pain sake., and we're in this hole talking here trying to have our feelings and not call attention to ourselves.. anyways suicide runs in my family. Almost everybody in my family that's killed themselves and got it done were gun shots.. I was at the funerals and my family had open casket of course. Ten year old girl staring at a covered up bullet hole in a chin of a 15 year old cousin of mine.. it's hard on the family.. he seemed at peace.. my uncle shot himself too.. hard on the family. The funeral is awful.. he was at peace.. I will say this though,, not that my cousin or uncle were bad people at all but not exactly angels either.. nobody came around telling them to stay alive even if they feel like bad people.. it's laughable they think I feel bad because I have certain feelings.. usually spawned by having to talk to an idiot like them.. so trust., I get wanting to end it all theatrically just to shove it in their face.. even if you decide on a toaster.. whatever you do.. don't run to Jesus.. sorry.. THE Jesus.. little do they know if you run to Jesus too hard.. that'll get you committed as well.. so go figure.. trust.. by the doctors view point.. and at the end of the day they call the shots when it gets real not a priest.. Jesus is a worse sin than your toaster.. the guy I used to date.. it was a blow dryer in the bath tub.. he always had a Jesus flare and theatricality to him.. not saying that's you.. because it was all for attention.. he didn't mean it.. and he was an awful liar and cheater.. and he always played victim to his stupid life decisions.. he went on to threaten me and say he almost shot my Dad.. not saying that's you.. but if you mean it then mean it.. that's why others are saying circuit breakers exist.. because he threatened me with that creepy weird threat and didn't follow through and made it clear it was just an empty gesture and threat.. and you can't be that way.. your feelings can change and that's valid.. but if you mean it then mean it.. because the trauma and problems that caused me and some others are awful.. but on the bright side it's still not as bad as a Jesus freak attacking me..

throwing a toaster in the bath tub is a bad way to go
this thread has shown me that there are a lot more layers of protection against being electrocuted than i realized, and i now know that it isn't a simple easy or painless method..

i'm in the bible belt too.. i believe we are still conscious spirits after death, but i've never believed in any organized religions like christianity or any thing..

i'm not a person that particularly trusts doctors all that much, and i'm not the type of person to do therapy or any thing like that either.. and i don't even have any friends or family any more to shun me for any thing..

any way thank you for taking the time out to write every thing..
love and light..

These days they're safer, usually only get power switched on for a few seconds when they're directly underneath the vehicle
