Huge apologies if this has been discussed before,
but is it possible that an RIP Megathread (or even a separate 'in memory' forum where a new thread can be created for each friend) can be pinned somewhere so that we can fondly remember the ones that have gone before us?
Or somewhere where their goodbye threads get pinned or moved to?

It may help bring closure to us, and honour our friends who succeeded on their journey.

I feel there should be a specific place where we can share memories, support each other, and indulge in general calming vibes to respect the dead, and ensure they never go in vain and their memory stays with us until we meet again.

I thought about this myself and wondered if it might be a good way to see and remember all those who had gone and how they left.

But then I thought it might act as a kind of glorifying death kind of thing, where weight of numbers eventually (of those who left) will push those on the fence onto the side of action, when it might not be right for them.

So while from a curiosity kind of point it would be interesting, from a humanist point of view I think it's a big no.

I agree. People might feel encouraged. Or it might be seen the wrong way by pro life groups, like the site is trying to see how many names it can add to the list.

I like the idea of it, but like other say it would give a clear list of pseudo and the number of people that have CTB. I'm not sure I see why it would be encouraging to do it though

If people see others who have ctb'd being memorialized and having people keep sending nice thoughts to them even after they are gone, they might decide they want their names on that list too.

Also it's not really the purpose of the site. I see people who have announced they are about to ctb are quickly crossed out too. Probably there is some reason such as the site not wanting too many details of how people went about it.

It's rare that we know 100% without a doubt that someone has definitely ctb & there's no way to prove it either way as most of us are very/completely anonymous.
Potentially someone could have a goodbye thread & say that they have taken steps towards ctb but it could be a complete lie.
Someone could get interrupted & "saved" but be too embarrassed to come back & say that they failed or they just go on to "recover".
Someone could "chicken out"/have a SI attack & be too embarrassed to come back & say that they failed.
Not everyone who self-bans/gets banned has actually ctb.
Not all of us want to do a goodbye thread & will just quietly slip away.
& probably there's other scenarios.

Yeah I did think about that, but then thoughtmaybe it could be used to also remember users who've left for whatever reason.

I shudder to think what would be posted on my memorial thread, probably good riddance.

That's a nice thought but some people have been banned because they are trolls, scammers, prolifers, &/or have broken the site rules.
We are not allowed to know why other members have been banned so there would be no way to separate out those who do/do not "deserve" to be included in the thread.

Aah, yes there's that. That's a good point!

I really like the idea of this. Death especially suicide should be celebrated and honored. If only the logistics of this site made it possible..

I don't agree that death should be celebrated, but I agree that the people who've died should be honoured and respected.

And then there is the Disney movie "Coco," so it is a given the dead can participate - Disney wouldn't lie.

(p.s. - I want a Chupacabra)
