Reddit is full of subs offering advice and support spaces for people to ask for help to improve their lives or to seek comfort in meeting others going through similar problems. In my experience I found majority of Reddit is full of people who put down others just to make themselves feel better I have experienced in a lot of communities
I have used so many reddit subs in my country and other large communities including women's spaces Reddit is a waste of time I wish I never reached out for help. I regret it.
● Casualuk is a UK sub reddit. I wrote a thread about how Valentines day stuff in the shops makes me feel so upset because I have not got a man of my own to give me that love.
The British men were blaming me for being single just because I am am antinatalist and post threads in antinatalism subs. Meanwhile the British women were like "single is not bad"
The arsehole men kept going through my post history and I post a lot of Feminist and antinatalism threads. These men were calling me a "toxic person" and bringing up my post history.
● Uniuk( sub about UK university life) I posted about how upset I was about being forced to start a masters at 27 due to fiance issues. I just asked is 27 too old to do a masters. Everyone else in my life is doing better than me with a partner and a career so I feel far behind
Redditors were just being rude and saying " you shouldn't be doing a masters degree if you are asking that question"
Others were saying " why are telling us your life story" " go see a therapist"
● Black ladies sub- the American black woman where asking me annoying questions if I went to white school and didn't seem to believe me when I explained I experienced racial bullying in a multicultural school and male rejection.
● Twoxchromosomes ( large womens sub) - I posed on a reddit sub community twoxchromosomes about my persistent sadness over being single while seeing other women i grew up with getting married and being successful with men.
None of the thousands of women who were active on that sub didn't even respond to my posts but whenever a woman posts about how awful, lazy or useless or an arsehole her boyfriend or husband is it gets over a thousand likes and so many responses along with support.
Another time I posted about how I can't cope anymore with the years of make rejection I have experienced. The women on the sub pretty much looked down upon me for wanting a loving relationship with a man and told me how being single woman is cool.
Majority of the women on the sub complain about their relationship problems. I am NOT talking about domestic violence. These women complain about thier boyfriends not giving them want they wanted or not fixing something properly or doing something stupid. It's trival stuff they complain about.
I feel like all these advice and support subs exist to make people feel better about their own lives while bullying other people and to show everyone else how superior thier opinions are.
I have lost faith in people and reaching out for help because of these self righteous arseholes on reddit.
