Reddit is full of subs offering advice and support spaces for people to ask for help to improve their lives or to seek comfort in meeting others going through similar problems. In my experience I found majority of Reddit is full of people who put down others just to make themselves feel better I have experienced in a lot of communities

I have used so many reddit subs in my country and other large communities including women's spaces Reddit is a waste of time I wish I never reached out for help. I regret it.

● Casualuk is a UK sub reddit. I wrote a thread about how Valentines day stuff in the shops makes me feel so upset because I have not got a man of my own to give me that love.

The British men were blaming me for being single just because I am am antinatalist and post threads in antinatalism subs. Meanwhile the British women were like "single is not bad"
The arsehole men kept going through my post history and I post a lot of Feminist and antinatalism threads. These men were calling me a "toxic person" and bringing up my post history.

● Uniuk( sub about UK university life) I posted about how upset I was about being forced to start a masters at 27 due to fiance issues. I just asked is 27 too old to do a masters. Everyone else in my life is doing better than me with a partner and a career so I feel far behind

Redditors were just being rude and saying " you shouldn't be doing a masters degree if you are asking that question"

Others were saying " why are telling us your life story" " go see a therapist"

● Black ladies sub- the American black woman where asking me annoying questions if I went to white school and didn't seem to believe me when I explained I experienced racial bullying in a multicultural school and male rejection.

● Twoxchromosomes ( large womens sub) - I posed on a reddit sub community twoxchromosomes about my persistent sadness over being single while seeing other women i grew up with getting married and being successful with men.
None of the thousands of women who were active on that sub didn't even respond to my posts but whenever a woman posts about how awful, lazy or useless or an arsehole her boyfriend or husband is it gets over a thousand likes and so many responses along with support.

Another time I posted about how I can't cope anymore with the years of make rejection I have experienced. The women on the sub pretty much looked down upon me for wanting a loving relationship with a man and told me how being single woman is cool.

Majority of the women on the sub complain about their relationship problems. I am NOT talking about domestic violence. These women complain about thier boyfriends not giving them want they wanted or not fixing something properly or doing something stupid. It's trival stuff they complain about.

I feel like all these advice and support subs exist to make people feel better about their own lives while bullying other people and to show everyone else how superior thier opinions are.

I have lost faith in people and reaching out for help because of these self righteous arseholes on reddit.

Reddit is full of pithy keyboard warriors. They don't know you or your life, they likely aren't taking real stock of what you're telling them. Did you come to SaSu because of Reddit? (ZERO shame in that, this place is infinitely more supportive) —- Please don't fully lose faith yet. There are people here willing to meet you where you are and engage in meaningful conversation. My PMs are always open<3

I mean, it's Reddit. What did you expect? Even Redditors hate Redditors. I mean, I remember finding a thread talking about a man who got kidnapped and was raped by a woman and a lot of comments were from perverted dumbasses talking about how they wish that happened to them. Those are the same people who like to mention the fact that "men get SA'd too" whenever women open up about their own experiences with it. You really shouldn't take the opinions of your average redditor that seriously.

It's disgusting people don't take men being raped seriously, and it's ironic that it's mostly other men who don't take it seriously, maybe if it was another man they would be all upset about it.

@EvisceratedJester Reddit used to be so cool when I was a teenager because I saw how people who didn't fit in with society came together to discuss a range of topics and people were so real but now reddit has become like another Facebook, Twitter and Instagram where everyone just shows off how they are better than others and use mob mentality to show how their view is "correct" and hounding those who disagree or have a different opinion.

I think reddit went down hill in 2016 after Trump got elected because it became a toxic echo chamber where liberals, progressives and socialists didn't want to discuss seriously why people voted for Trump and instead kept insulting the population for being "stupid". "Racist" and even blaming Russia. The same also happened with UK subs with Brexit.

Covid19 pandemic also made reddit even worse. There was a sub called the Herman Cain sub award that was making fun the people who didn't want the vaccine and died. The poor families have to live with the pain of losing their loved and now people are making jokes about it. Yes the unvaccinated made a poor decision but they didn't deserve to die.

I hate Donald Trump and I think he is domestic terrorist whose actions caused people to die on 6th January 2021 all because he refused to accept he lost and wanted to stop democracy from prevailing. Trump belongs in jail if Obama did an insurrection he would be in jail already

The causes of why people voted for Trump involve multiple factors relating to social economic issues in USA.

If the left can't grasp or understand why people voted for Trump then will struggle to defeat him. The left doesn't want to ask why til this day and just still resort to insults and blaming the population.

Reddit there is no room anymore for serious political discussion.

I don't know about Reddit having ever been cool but that might be due to my first-ever run-in with Reddit being on r/incest...

(And no, It wasn't a place for fictional incest, based on what I had gathered from the comments under some of the threads)

A child is a child. That little boy can NOT consent to sex because he lacks the capacity due to his age. There is a reason why we have consent laws and laws forbidding teachers sleeping with their students.

That is unfortunate. I am sorry that you had to go through this. I am also active on Reddit. However, lol, cause I realized where it is going these days I stick to specific topics I know cannot be 'nuanced'. Example, is the government in my country a woft (yes). I have been on this site for over a year now. Met alot of incredible and caring people. Idk if they still around. I respect whatever they decided to do. Most people here will not judge u. So feel free to vent

yeah, reddit is mostly shit, i hope here is a better than most social media. on there today i found a small thread of someone not happy with how downvotes work, i commented agreeing saying "while people arent obligated to explain themselves or anything, downvoting something doesnt contribute to meaningful conversation" and people seemed pretty upset at that. i try not to take it personal but its frustrating people wont take the time to even argue. i notice people downvote the most when i try to put myself in the other persons shoes even if i disagree, or having a personal preference (eg. "this game makes me scared", "i like this food").

its almost as if there is a war on compassion. you are rewarded for making heartless one sentence "whateverisms" and "postironic" insults. people will say theyre joking or trolling but its easy to tell when someone is just projecting their very serious feelings and ideas. and then they get mad when you try to actually cooperate with them. theres only so much "its not that deep" can apply to things. i get theres probably a time and place for the aforementioend behaviour but on social media everything is so saturated with this meanness and it spreads because we dont reward good behaviour in society.

i saw you discuss in this thread as well about joking about things, and while im not against jokes in general, whats actually concerned me is the jokes arent coming with serious inquiry and thought, like the boeing assassinations, everyone jokes about it but its actually really serious that they have had their life taken away from them for trying to keep us safe. and i agree its weird to laugh at people dying because they felt they had reasons not to take the vaccine, i know people who had miscarriages and they suspect it was the vaccine and its not very funny. we celebrate memes but theyre being used against us in the algorithm.

I honestly think the average redditor is more deranged than the average SaSu user lol. Don't bother with them unless you're prepared for some serious nonsense. The platform is designed and moderated in such a way that (as you've noticed) most subs tend towards being loony echo chambers. I stick to joke subs and ones related to my interests because the second you dip into politics or social issues reddit goes nuts

By being an unhappily single, opinionated, non-American black woman, you clash with both the American perception of black women and the pop feminist perception of singleness, as well as a few other things that prevent you from fitting into the hivemind's worldview. Generally speaking only so much deviation is allowed before you enter "unredeemable bad person" territory.

so yea fuck 'em. If you want good advice try talking to people similar to you one on one online or IRL. Group advice is usually shit anyways even without reddit's weirdness

In general though, Reddit is a bad place to be. It's astroturfed to hell and once an idea or narrative gains traction, anything that goes against that is muted in the echo chamber.

Yeah. Morality is black and white, hypocrisy is standard, and the only purpose of discussion is making intellectual slam dunks

reading the comments under a post about Trump's weight a while back, almost all of them were a variation of "lol fat bastard" while comments replying "isn't this fatshaming?" were met with "uhh no because we don't like him and we can make fun of people for X trait we say shouldn't be made fun of if we don't like them and they're bad". Literal kindergartener logic and a mirror image of what they despise

God, I hate it when people do that. Body-shaming is wrong, even if you hate the person being shamed. By shaming them for their appearance you are basically implying that anyone who also happens to have those particular physical characteristics are ugly and repulsive.

Good suggestion. Though I'd be careful there, I vaguely remember seeing something about members getting threatening/creepy dms

Also yea the astroturfing is ludicrous and very unsubtle. I remember the millisecond Biden dropped out, a bajillion Kamala support posts appeared to smooth over the fact that there wasn't an open primary and the DNC just plopped her on the ticket with no input from voters. My dad uses reddit and I kid you not the next day we were talking in the car and he started talking about how great a candidate Harris was lol

Yep, nobody cares about mentally ill people once they start acting like they have a mental illness or fall short of normal. The "accepting" and "you can't use it as an excuse" crowds very quickly become indistinguishable once a mentally ill person does something they're not ok with

@Lady Laudanum There is a lot of censorship in mental health related online spaces this is why Sanctioned Suicide exits. If there was more safe spaces for suicidal people to talk without judgment or moderator censorship Sanctioned Suicide wouldn't even exist in the first place. Everyone in the mental industry wants to blame Sanctioned Suicide for everything but never the world and judgementmental society that made people feel this way.

I got builled out of a UK based online depression support community during covid19 because I said " I wished I died of covid19 instead of the doctors and nurses." This is how I genuinely felt at the time

The moderator was this uptight British Middle class Karen in her 40s who had easy access to mental health care and was lucky enough to have a husband support her financially. She allowed her mob of followers to bully me at my lowest while she joined in. She died last year everyone on Facebook and her website were calling her hero. I feel sorry for her kids but to me she will always be cyber bully.

These are my experiences. These arseholes drove me back to Sanctioned Suicide

https://sanctioned-suicide.net/thre...mmunity-by-other-depression-sufferers.139989/

https://sanctioned-suicide.net/thre...one-sees-her-as-a-hero-since-she-died.165696/

These self-righteous arseholes drove me back to using Sanctioned Suicide.

@Gabbi_Station Society has no empathy for the severely mentally ill. Last night I watched a BBC Panorama documentary about the the NHS role in the Nottingham murders. Last year a schizophrenic mam Valdo Calocane stabbed to death 3 people in a city called Nottingham. Sections of the British public even believed Valdo was not mentally ill and knew what he was doing. The mother of one of the Victims has been joining in the public mob in refusing to believe the Valdo is mentally ill.,The documentary is shocking. The NHS is 100% to blame because they let a severely mentally ill man with no real care and support roam free in public. The NHS were warned this man is danger to himself and others but they didn't want to listen.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c990rmvy4ero

Before the murders happened Valdo was sectioned 4 times under the NHS for very short periods of time and constantly realased back him into the public to be "cared for by the community". Margaret Thatcher shut down lot of mental health hospitals in the UK and created care in the community where doctors and nurses go to the houses to give mentally ill people medicine this is " community looking after them," This policy still exists today because successive governments kept the policy.

Nurses and doctors kept warning NHS management that this man is a danger to himself and will eventually harm a member of the public but NHS management teams didnt want to listen. NHS kept him giving him shorter times in the hospital for example he was supposed to stay 6 months in a hospital as he was given section 3 he ended up staying only 2 weeks in the hospital and released back into the community. He went on kill 3 people in the city centre, the victims were 19 year old university students and a school caretaker close to retirement. Valdo got a life sentence in a mental institution.

The mother of one of the victims publicy went on LBC news made racist comments about the Valdo Calocane and his family. Valdo is a black man from Angloa who came to the UK when he was 10 years old

She said she had no sympathy for Calocanes mother and then said " they brought that individual into the world and this country."

The families even complained to the Attorney General (AG)about thr sentence Valdo received. The AG concluded the sentence was fair.

Jesus Christ, I'm really sorry you had that experience. I didn't know the moderators were that catty. I wasn't even aware they had a Discord but it sounds like a particular clique is using it as their group chat.

But this is why SaSu exists. We don't preach at each other and we actually let people be messy. I'm so tired of people saying "reach out and find support" but if you act like someone who needs support, they shun you.

@mrpeter Sexaul assault and abuse is a pain that lasts a lifetime for the victim. Abuse is abuse regardless of gender.

Rescently a 30 year old guy shared with me that he was sexually assaulted in the past by women and the impact it had on him. I was shocked to learn he was a sexual assault surivior because he is really tall guy and he looks like a viking. He is Norwegian with red hair and has a long beard he looks like a man that can defend himself. I was very surprised. It was not something I was expecting and I wasn't expecting him to open up to me.

He explained to me as a result he is very "reserved around women" because because it's taken him long time to get comfortable around women again. It finally began to make sense in how he was behaving around me. Some of his behaviours I find strange a little bit.

I know the guy from regularly meeting him a CBD store where he works. I buy my products from that store because it has so many products. In the shop we regularly talk to each other and we have the most interesting conversations. The shop is at certain times has no customers so yeah that is how we talk. We have some things in common actually. He looks very happy to see whenever I come.

A couple of weeks ago when the shop was closing I asked the man for his number and asked him if he can go on a walk with me. The area has canals and lots of markets.

He actaully agreed. We had a great time then he asks me why I invited him for a walk and questioning my motives.
I was I bit taken back by the questioning and shocked.

My PMs are always open<3
before I came on Sanctioned Suicide I really wanted to live and be happy and reached out everywhere.

Family never listened and took me seriously when I said I was depressed after my 21st birthday. Close university friend avoided me me once I told her I was suicidal and I struggled to get a referall on the NHS

During covid19 pandemic I got builled out of a UK based online depression support community by the other depression sufferers. At my lowest these people ganged up and builled me.

I really wanted to live but nothing ever works out for me and I am finally tired of everything .
