I just wanted to know if using the slip knot for psh was reliable, i've seen some people here recommend the arbor knot instead for psh because they say the slip knot is a fixed knot but i've done some test with it and i don't think it's unreliable. I don't even think it's fixed, i have pressed it downards with my hand and it locks onto it just like the arbor knot would.
I also think it's slightly safer since it's wrapped twice (srry if this isn't the correct wording i'm an esl so i don't really know how to refer those two little wraps at the end).
i don't know if i'm overthinking it im pretty sure thousands of people have probably successfully ctb'd with that knot but the posts here about it worry me

and one thing that looks inevitable to me is probably crushing or damaging the adams apple or larynx? i genuinely don't know and i'm an idiot when it comes to this thing i've seen some neck anatomy diagrams but i don't know exactly what it is i just know it runs alongside the carotids (probably my adams apple), i've tested my setup and sometimes it genuinely felt like i was going to crush my neck, i applied some padding and it feels better but i just want to know if some neck damage or fracture is inevitable, i know i'm going to die so it doesn't matter but still would like to know
also sorry for this boring and long post

Don't have the rope against your hyoid, and make sure you're feeling like you're going to pass out when you practice, over having pain on your trachea.

Also, not sure what you're saying about knot types. I'm pretty sure you want to use the slipknot around your neck, so it can tighten as more pressure is applied to it. I've heard oiling/lubing it can help.

i try to place the rope upwards as much as i can but i don't feel any strong pulse there, idk if carotids are located differently for some people but i feel the pulse stronger at the center of my neck, also looks like it doesn't matter how up i place it, i always have the feeling i'm squeezing some important part on my neck but padding has made it more bearable
but the good news is i can make myself pass out very quickly last time i was already feeling dizzy and lightheaded in just like 3 seconds

the slip knot is mostly what i've seen recommended in most threads, but i'm a bit confused because i've also read bad things about it and some users recommending other alternatives so that's why i'm a bit scared

btw thanks for your advice and for replying to the thread

I gave up with strangulation because I couldn't get the ligature tight enough. If I were to go back, I'd try towards the bottom of my neck, say, just above my collarbone.

PSH would probably be easier in terms of applying pressure though. When you do it, do you get the sensation of your head exploding or your eyes bulging?

not anymore, some users said that happens when you're only compressing the jugulars
i try to place the rope slightly above the center of my neck (where my pulse is strongest) but sometimes it takes >10 seconds for me to start feeling dizzy and lightheaded but sometimes it can happen in like 3 seconds
