Sorry, I guess? Comedy is always subjective. I think in this particular bit, Oswalt uses humor as a facetious way to relieve the psychological tension he deals with; of course, if his way of disarming the power of depression via jokes isn't relatable to you, it's not funny. Part of the brilliance of his delivery is to find comic relief even in a source as dark as suicidal ideation.
The ability to make otherwise painful or uncomfortable subjects funny is the type of black or gallows humor that I find funniest, especially done with Oswalt's intelligence.
One thing for sure, there's probably nothing less funny than overanalyzing a joke, so I'll stop myself at that.
