Can I just point out how profound it is that so many people choose to spend their last moments here, with strangers, to seek compassion and understanding, instead of their families, because nobody in their lives understands what they're going through, & they have no one else they can trust with how they really feel?

I love you guys, I'm sorry you're here, but I'm also so glad you're here.

I am a long term member of the suicidal community. I have attempted and failed to ctb multiple times, some of which landed me in the psych ward. Members of this community have helped me stand up, brush off the dirt, and move on. In many cases, some dear friends from here have talked me down from an attempt by being there for me. Caring and understanding like no one else can. More helpful than any doctor or drug.
I have been around long enough (sometimes I think unfortunately, sometimes I am glad to still be around) to see some sites go defunct, others overrun by trolls, and several banned. We always find each other again, because we do really care for one another and know all the right places and people to look for. Our lives are sometimes dark. Therefore we know our way in the dark like the blind in their own homes. As @PatKat mentioned, if one goes down, three more will appear.
Or we would all die from being so lonely, and not being able to talk to anyone<no pun intended>. I need this place too. I have been in and out for a while myself.

Exactly. This is why I came here. No one truly understands me(family, whatever friends I have in real life), and so on. It just makes one not feel so alone when you can talk amongst people who really understand, because they themselves have been going through hell as well, and can relate.

Yeah when Congress passed FOSTA it only killed backpage but it sure didn't stop any other online prostitution. It was all a big dog-and-pony show for the media.

lol I thought he was being sarcastic, I don't think the site or the users want any media attention, and Buzzfeed being a kiddie-site is the joke.
I dont even know what backpage is.

The thought is occurring to me that my ISP or government might block access to this site. What would be a remedy if this happened? I have Tor browser but don't really know how to use it, might that work?

Google suicide forum... this site (not named) is on the first two or so pages now! I really hope this site is safe
edit: at first I thought you meant a direct link lol

It's recommended that members all use tor or vpn. I'm just a rebel.

The part where it says ""It's like these people running the site are getting off on watching people die, They feed off it. It's so disturbing." Is absolutely untrue. The members here have a great amount empathy for others struggling as they know exactly how it feels. More feel the sadness of someone else leaving then they do about themselves potentially doing so. Many private message a member instead of posting openly on goodbye posts and talk to someone one on one to ensure this is absolutely 100 percent what they want to do. I am terribly sorry for her family and friends, but please do not think anyone here gets off on watching anyone die. If we could we would rid every single person here of the pain that has brought them here. We just know that is not possble for everyone and all we can really do is save them from the loneliness that they have endured in their life. Have you read any recovery posts, where people choose life? Do you not see how happy everyone is for someone who continues to keep fighting? Does that not show you this is a pro choice environment? We are just aware that the choice isnt ours to make and that is the only difference between us and you.

It's like the people writing these articles are getting off on spreading lies to get attention. They feed off it. It's so disturbing.
Daily mail too..

Ooh DM has one of the craziest comment sections on the internet.
Should make for interesting reading.

Heart-breaking loss, rip. However, it's unfair to the rest of us. They're not considering that since this a "suicide" forum, ignoring the fact that playing the blame game can affect the rest of us. It's unfair but maybe there was a reason her daughter didn't seek help from her. I just really hope there will be no repercussions for any of us; wishing peace does not equal encouragement. It's comforting to belong somewhere. :/

i shamefully admit i am an active commenter at the Daily Mail. It is a complete escape from reality and yes the comments section has the most polarizing and outrageous comments. I went to this article, its locked from posting anymore comments and they only posted one about how all of us here are giving advice on something we havent done ourselves so what do we know anyway..and of course its been upvoted over and over.

Reading her story again it is so striking that the method takes three days. That takes enormous determination, to say nothing to the people around them for three days while they CTB. That's serious dedication.

DM commenters are often supportive of right to die, at least for old people. You have to get to them before the mods do lol.

All these bastards want is a target, a scapegoat. It surely can't be their fault their child wants to kill themselves. They're just perfect parents who know and do the best thing possible for their child! It's not them not noticing their child is slowly getting buried in a pile of mental issues, it's not the bullies or absurd demands from social media that's causing those problems, no, it's this evil forum!
Fucking surely!

well her parents said they definitely did notice her struggles and had sought mental healthcare, which was all they could really do.
Which is why the blame lies with the therapists who failed the girl, and the manufacturer of any meds she was on.

I noticed that one of the articles said she had studied science in college --and was then working an Amazon warehouse job. Talk about a source of disappointment in her life! Getting a STEM degree takes dedication and a love of the subject --my ex is a scientist-- and to then be shoved into a dead-end (so to speak) warehouse job would have been disillusioning to say the least.

And all the time her life coach mother is telling her to cheer up and take her vitamin D.

So true, I also failed my professional life after having spent all my youth into studies, that's my biggest regret.

What are your thoughts

According to the article, which is from (eye roll) Buzzfeed, the mother is quoted as saying

""If they were helping terminally ill people who were in pain, I can understand," Bieber said. "But the people on this site are depressed and lonely. They just need help."

Ah yes, they just need help. It's JUST that simple! Really though, depression can be a terminal illness if you think about it. I don't think the mother of this person who has died doesn't and didn't understand the issues her daughter was experiencing and is now beginning a vendetta against this site, instead of you know, some introspection.

Once again, talking about suicide REDUCES the stigma. I'm guessing this person who died didn't feel she could talk safely/freely with her parent (s). This argument of social media being the devil is getting real old. It's almost like the average person can't compute how fucking difficult it is to not only receieve adequate care, and parents are taking little to no responsibility in their children's well-being.

Amazon warehouse jobs are notorious for being ridiculously demanding and stressful. And I'm not sure if she was able to finish college with her anxiety/depression, I haven't read every single article.

I know admins had to no choice but to remove her posts but that feels so unfair to me, that her voice, IN HER OWN WORDS, has been removed from this debate.
Her feelings about her own experiences are the most important thing in all of this and they've been taken away, it is so wrong!

I think I am kind of speechless.
It goes without saying that everyone is sorry for her loss and will never understand or pretend to understand what the family are going through and this because unless you have expierenced the same thing its impossible.
In the same way, suicide can and is misunderstood.unless you have been to the depths of despair you have no idea.
At the end of the day , if someone has made a decision to end their life (regardless to their reasons or efforts to recover ), then they will find a way regardless.

I honestly even wonder if she left her phone for her parents to find, as a form of suicide note about what she was feeling, but of course there is no way to ever know.

Did you want to make a moderator aware of this? I don't want to step on anyone's toes, and they may already be aware of it, but it would probably be a good idea. Thoughts?
