Omg omg, an old friend from middle school just messaged me and wished me happy birthday!! I didn't know she even remembered. And this comes right after I've been thinking back on those middle school times and missing them. Should I try to reconnect? I'm scared she won't want to rekindle our friendship since she already has tons of friends.
id say go for it. Worst case scenario you dont speak again, but that would've happened if you never reached out anyways. Theres a chance you'll become friends again, i say go for it! If she remembered your birthday it might be a sign she wants to reconnect too. And happy birthday!

Thank you! And I'll try. But I already sent back a thank you, and she hasn't responded, and it has been hours. I guess I should try to continue the conversation

Sounds like a good idea. I find it hard to come up with a response to thank you besides 'you're welcome'. Go for the classic "what have you been up to?", easiest way to continue a convo. Good luck!
