Help need more online human contact,,

i need more human contact online.. going outside is way too scary, but all the online groups and forums and cliques and stuff.. well, they're not super great. i just, want more attention from people but i know that basically nobody is going to feel oaky giving it to me. i don't know what to do, i want attention, but it's not worth leaving the frying pan for the fire. my only plan now is to wait and be patient until somebody takes an interest in me by themselves and is also just a little bit mentally unwell, mentally unwell enough to cling on to me just a little bit.

I enjoy talking to people online too but I only know 2 people that'll consistently talk to me, might be because I can be a bit overbearing sometimes but I try not to be idk and it really sucks, but I always listen to people best I can. I love talking about anything for the most part.

I am not socially active both offline and even online myself but i do like going through discord servers through specific topic sub from reddit
It can be kinda fun especially if you happen to fixate on a specific subject like a certain movie, show, game, etc.
These type of servers are usually nice to get into in my opinion because they would mostly be filled with a few amount of regulars so you just can chime in whatever

I'm glad you're on this forum. You have lots of supportive people to talk to here. Are you on Facebook or X/Twitter? You said something about the online forums being cliquish. Facebook has groups for all kinds of interests. And on Twitter can you follow people who tweet about things you're interested in.

twitter is unfortunately such a cesspit, and the fediverse, the only twitter-like socmed that doesn't just replicate the worst parts of twitter, is still pretty bad

most of us on here have our own stories that we cannot discuss with folk outside this forum because they would freak out.

I have found if I dm someone we can have a chat about stuff that we are going through or have experienced. Likewise I have had a few people dm me and have always replied with an honesty and frankness that I would not have with other friends or family.

I believe so yeah. It's from a game called "Missed Messages", it actually has a long emotional backstory but I'll keep it relatively short for the sake of this thread. Basically I stumbled across this game about suicide a while ago when my sister was dealing with SI, I didn't really understand suicide until I played that game. That game, and a nightmare I had of her being gone, helped me realise that life is fragile and I figured out how to help her out.

It's been a while since I played that game but based off what I remember the girls are two close friends who live next to each other/share a room in an apartment and end up bonding and helping each other out.

irl human contact is genuinely one of the worst things ever, i feel like everyone i can potentially meet irl is an asshole or a bigot of some sort or we just share no interests that would bloom a friendship in any way

being a closeted trans woman also fucks you up depending on where you live, here i have about a 95% chance of being seen as a deviant and a freak for it and it makes it really hard to speak to anyone knowing how they'd perceive me if i commited the grave sin of confessing my identity to them

Yeah I created my own discord server for mental health issues that's also not as doomerist as here cuz despite all the mental health awareness if you're actively suicidal try talking about it

Sounds like you're really shy. I can talk to anyone, so I cannot relate. It's admirable you're trying to get out of your shell (: don't hold yourself to too high of a standard! Progress, not perfection.

Also in mental health servers, ppl often want someone to talk to who can understand and relate. Think about how lonely it is to be suicidal and have no one else to talk to that understands. Maybe what you could do is go on a mental health server and say you'd like someone to pm you cuz you don't like having conversations with more than two ppl? And you're just looking for a peer you can open up to and vent with.

I know of some mental health discords that are critical of institutionalization and police involvement, and work to eradicate stigma. I find it easier to open up in those spaces. I can hit u up with links if you wanna pm me

Also thanks for clarifying. I find it's hard to open up, people tend to judge or fear or assume rather than listen or understand. Totally get what you mean by a vibe check. I have my server set up so you can only access certain channels if you meet a particular "vibe" cuz I've had problems with opening up about trauma or misogyny and ppl totally not getting it

Walks saved my life.

I pick up at least one piece of litter every day.

Some days I'm extra motivated and I'll pick up a lot.

I go on a trail and there's about a 4 mile strip that I pretty much single handedly keep litter free. (The cyclists are the worst cause of litter)

It's kind of awesome.

I've also managed to make it safer by dealing with this one creep.

You start recognizing the regulars. It's nice.
