Well, I can't find the thread anymore, it must have been removed so I can't reference it to you. But he was edgy as hell, egoistic and called the cops on someone. He exploited people. Why are you defending him? You know, there's a reason why he got banned. I'm beginnig to think you're some sort of reincarnation of him.

I remember Jeremy being particularly mean to me for being an incel, he always claimed that such a thing couldn't possibly exist just because he can't understand it but it really seemed as if he didn't want to understand it and just wanted to make himself look superior by being above it all. He was kind of like that when it came to depression or other conditions even though he suffered from Bipolarism himself. I suppose he couldn't help his mania-induced bouts but it doesn't excuse the callous way he acted towards other members if he had any reason to disagree with them. Whenever he was losing an argument he would pull the "well you're suicidal so you're not thinking straight" card even when suicide was barely relevant at all to whatever he was being challenged on.

Even without all that, calling the cops on a fellow member, especially one who was briefly his girlfriend, is all one needs to hear to know he doesn't deserve any more of our sympathy and it was for this reason he was banned and decided to turn heel against us. Other people who've been banned have presumably just moved on with their lives but he continues to work against us from afar while claiming to want to help even though most of the people he wants to help should want nothing to do with him. I still haven't listened to the actual podcast but I can bet no stupid app could fix me or most people on here I would imagine.

No one should have to go through his posts just to prove they exist because his worst ones were deleted either by him or by mods when he got various threads shut down. There's literally no reason to continue giving him the benefit of the doubt after hearing that so many people can already back up the fact he's not to be trusted with their own testimony.

I think we should agree to disagree about Jeremy. I wasn't around when he was here, but based on what I heard in the podcast he'd probably enjoy us falling out over him and let's not give him the satisfaction.

It's been very revealing to get the insights of long term members, both on Jeremy and Joe. I for one have found this thread very informative.

Ok I want to say one thing I really did not like about Jeremy was in the podcast he was saying he didn't understand ss members who were on this site for a long period of time. He was insinuating that those members are obviously dodgy and here for the wrong motivation because they hadn't got around to killing themselves already. Like being on ss but not ctb fast enough means you're a fake. How fucking dare he?? I believe there are many reasons for membership on here. Amazing support from fellow users for mental health, just being generally pro choice and wanting to learn more, being suicidal but having a condition like bipolar or bpd which means you change your mood and mind frequently (like me) .. who is he to suggest there's a time frame to ctb once you're a member?
I also looked back over his past threads and I just found his projection of himself gross.. just grotesque self promotion. I mean how many other members feel the need to post holiday snaps??? Please spare me....

ill put my hands up and say we need to change when people come here like "I'm scared, I don't know what to do" and our members say death is the only way, but i've literally never seen that happen.

I think we should remind people they don't have to go through with it on Goodbye threads, but Joe never made one. He just came to the forum, says he "just wants to go to be honest" (i.e. "i don't want to talk about it") spammed questions about methods, wishes other dying people "peace" and "you can do it when time is right!", makes a topic about how amazing we all are then leaves for 2 days waiting for his package despite someone reminding him of the impact it would be on his family who he lived with.

Yeah it's very tricky. I can see the complaint she's making from those threads. She sees her child experiencing an overwhelm of negative emotion for legitimate reasons that is contemplating suicide. She thinks this contemplation is temporary but in that period he's extraordinarily vulnerable. She sees him come here, ask about methods, get them in great detail without question, and ctb in a week. In her view, if he doesn't find the site and get the method and emotional support, he's probably still here.

And she might be right. Maybe. So she suggests a few things. Making recovery resources at least as prominent as the suicide ones. And banning the posts suggesting methods as "encouragement".

I'd say a few things. The recovery thread and suicide discussion thread are equally prominent on the home page. The recovery thread doesn't get as much attention because that's not what most people here are most interested in. Most people are here because the whole world has shown them their recovery methods and they haven't worked. So you can put a huge banner at the top of the site if you like, it's not going to be the main focus for most people. For those who are looking for recovery resources, they'll find them here. For those who are looking for suicide resources, they'll find them too.

As far as banning giving direct methods as encouragement, I get the point to a degree. The post she talked about that affected her most deeply in the podcast was Yomyom's post in the 2nd thread there:

She broke down reciting that. To be fair, it is in response to a direct question about methods rather than a vent like it was portrayed. But it's easy to see how she drew a direct correlation between that post and her child dying a few days later - I can see it too. If someone replies in a different way like asking about his life, what led him here, what are other options are still available to exhaust, etc., at that moment, is the outcome different? Maybe.

But he may also have tried to electrocute himself in a bathtub like his original idea then God knows what the consequences would have been. I mean there are any number of hypotheticals not all or maybe even most of which are better than what happened. We don't make the judgment that staying alive was necessary preferable either, although it's possible.

So what's the solution? Is it best to ban posts like that? I mean there are legitimate cases where that is exactly the best thing for them to receive at that moment too, and it's conceivable this was one of them. I just don't know the answer to that one. My gut feeling is it's not technically encouragement. It's a direct answer to a direct question. If you start banning posts like that, where to draw the line becomes awfully grey. But I get the argument, and how posts like that consistently would result in higher ctb rates for vulnerable people so I don't know. I sure as heck don't envy the moderator's job!

I'm starting to waffle like the podcast so that's enough. This is too hard for me.

And since you've asked many times, I'll tell you why we are this way, why we talk about jeremy in this manner and why some people accuse others of being sock accounts.

Because things didn't used to be this way.

Fixthe26 has been notorious because they use these accounts to take screenshots, harass members, provoke them, and allegedly incite others. It got to the point that it's hard to trust new accounts because of this. This is the reason why we have the private section, there people can talk without fearing this, but even in that section there are preying eyes now.

Jeremy played no small role in that mentality, he was given nothing but support and love from many people, then he betrayed an amazing person in the most heinous way, and after that he went on and gave that manipulative interview with the assholes at fixthe26, the community felt betrayed.

I get that you want to see the whole picture, or the good in everyone, but you have to understand that the fact that you seem to be defending him is a sore subject to the community, and your attempts at moving the conversation away from any negativity towards him, while ignoring the fact that he said some really hypocritical and nasty stuff can be seen as shielding him, or typical behavior from a sock account.

I'm not accusing you btw, and I thought that the comments about you being jeremy were made in a tongue in cheek way. I just hope that you have a better understanding of this now.

I have not listened to the podcast. But i have often read the stop SS facebook page. I am not sure if these people are really helpful to improve this website. I think this website has it's faults but these people think way too stereotypical about people with suicidal thoughts and often stigmatize them. Not every problem can be solved with a better health care system. A peacefull suicide must be an option for adults in the world.
If they are against assisted suicide and deny that suicde can be a automonous decision i would be really careful to make too many concessions.
