Just seen this video which shows each of the three air vents really nicely. I'm going to haphazardly assume that taping up these vents from the outside with something like thick parcel tape should do the trick. I'll tape up the zip for the door from the inside too, better safe than sorry.

Sorry to ask questions in your thread Zanexx, just wondering if anybody has any extra advice from a quick glance at this tent? Thanks!

You're going for the regatta this time? Best of luck this time, I hate to say it but this could be useful info for me. I assume you are going to tape up the air vents?

Yes, hoping to start the charcoal in around 6 hours if all goes to plan. And yeah I've got this canvas tape stuff (got from a camping store) and bin liner so I think that should work for blocking ventilation?

I'm sorry to say I won't be awake then, I hope things go as planned. Not sure you'll need the bin liner taping the vents from the outside would be sufficient as long as it's a strong seal I think. Hopefully all of the seams are airtight but even if you're only 95% sealed I think it will be sufficient.

I want to tape from the inside though. I just feel it eliminates the chance of discovery during the process.

Not dead yet. I've had a lot of last minute practicalities (unrelated to the method) to sort out, so the charcoal is still in the chimney starter but I think the timer's up in about 10 minutes. Should be getting in with the charcoal in around an hour and a half.

I taped up all three ventilation sections from the inside with both masking and camo tape and that also took quite a while, although they weren't too big in the end.

Ironically, the place where I put the heat map for the BBQ is directly next to (not under) the sign saying "Carbon monoxide can kill, barbacues must not be take inside or near the entrance of your tent, even a cool BBQ can give off lethal amounts of carbon monoxide" with a cartoon of a BBQ in a tent inside a big red circle with a line through it.
