I wrote some notes on it here :

I'm not completely convinced about the lower vomit risk stated by @TimeToBiteTheDust (I explain why in the above notes)
But I'd be happy to be proven wrong of course....

I also thought/read somewhere that it didn't directly affect the risk of vomiting, whether you choose stat dose or a regimen

Quoting from those notes :
Some people suggest there's a lower vomiting risk with the 48 hour regime, but I haven't seen evidence to convincingly support that (a handful of anecdotal cases is not enough to make real conclusions, and people discussing those cases may not have measured the large number of successful stat dose cases, etc).

I think the main difference is the 48 hour regime reduces the EPS risk, but with the considerable downside of being more drawn out. Read the notes linked above for more info..... Dignitas use a stat dose, so.....

Ah yes I knew I'd read it somewhere here, pros outweigh the cons to me in that situation.

Some claims:
"this regime removes the need to synchronise the taking of the lethal drug. It also serves to uncover any possible adverse effects of the drug" (page 182).
The reason we have regimen is because the effects stack and develop quicker the longer youre taking meto.
Meto accumulates, which has potential pros and cons (considered in quoted thread). If you relax GI sphincters and increase muscle tone over 48h that may be beneficial. It may have been an attempt to improve known nausea of Diginitas stat AE.

But, bottom line it is inconclusive, as jgm63 wrote, and many prefer stat, and do it successfully.
