My friends hate AI. They also have problems with the term. It is misleading. And they are right. If go you into a store everything is now related to AI. An AI TV, an AI smartphone, an AI toilet. Okay the last thing was a joke but in Japan it probably exists. (Okay I think in the West too...)
It probably depends on how we define intelligence. Is the term AI relating it to human intelligence or intelligence of animals?
I have the feeling the culture war will become even more heated. I could be wrong. The metaverse just vanished. And everyone forgot it. Crypto and EFTs also highly disputed. I am not a fan any of that. Though, I am using AI. For me AI seems to be overhyped. And I don't know which business model justifies the insane amounts of money which is spent on the development. We pay with our data. There will be ads sooner or later. I could imagine they try to make people addicted to AI and then cash in. We will become a hoard of consumer zombie unable to think for ourselves. Eventually, it could ruin the internet.
I use AI for feedback. Sometimes for therapy and it helped me with a complaint (law advice).
I usually ask people on SaSu and my friends in real life for feedback. But my friends are sometimes overwhelmed with my need to talk. My therapist tried to ruin me by writing lies in my medical records. I think I am done with therapy by humans for a while. And yes AI was pretty helpful with writing the complaint. It helped me to analyze huge amounts of data pretty fast. You have to be extremely cautious with formulations and it gets details wrong in so many replies. I am a pretty noob in jurisdiction though. And the advice was very very helpful. I used several models at the same times. And I gave the text which I handed in to someone to check it. And I read it aloud to patient counsellors and they were pretty impressed by my text and asked me whether I studied something law. Actually, it would have been better to go to a lawyer. But I don't have the money to spend it on a lawyer. And there was so much text this would have costed a fortune. Someone called it a democratizazion of knowledge. Critics will say a democratization of misinformation.
There is an anecdote that pissed of my friends. My therapist was very manipulative when she wrote me mails. She gave me compliments and at the same time blamed solely me for the conflict. I was sort of persuaded and considered to give in. I formulated a mail but wasn't certain whether to send it or not. I wanted feedback of AI and it highly warned me to send the mail. I would have had no chance for a complain if I sent the mail. And well I didn't send it. And in this case AI saved me. Now with some time to think about it it was extremely good that I didn't send this mail. I am so fucking glad about it. I was too emotional when I formulated it. The feedback was really good.
I have issues with coming to decision all my life. And AI makes me a little bit more functional. And this is a good thing. I could easily become addicted though. Maybe I am already addicted.
I think the tech stocks are overvalued a lot. But I am not sure whether the bubble will burst with a big crash. Investors become increasingly impatient.
I tend to think this technology will become even more important. But it won't replace all jobs. In case AI becomes sentient expect the culture war to become way worse. Or imagine what happens when blackmailing, cyber warfare, scams with the help of AI become better and better.
I am not sure whether it will tear families apart. I think my friends had a bigger problem with me if I was an extreme right-winger, transphobic or against equality.
I could imagine even the ones who despise AI will have to deal with the technology sooner or later. It could become mandatory for many jobs.
