I saw a post earlier about being born and how nobody consents to that. But i was just wondering what the general opinion on that is.

IMO i would have rather been born, than never existed. This is primarily because there have at least been a few joys in my life a long time ago, and at this point im glad i can just remember them, even if they were kinda small.

Idk i guess it just feels like you need suffering to experience joy, but because the ratio is way towards suffering i wanna CTB, but i still prefer that over having absolutely zero joy or suffering by not being born.

…What do yall think?

The thing is, not existing is neutral. You won't feel pleasure, but you won't suffer either. There is no boredom cause you literally don't have a consciousness. Lack of existence is the better case imo.

We don't even matter, and I'm talking about everyone and everything. All our problems won't mean anything in 50-100 years cause the universe has been far longer. We just happen to be here right now (unless you believe in creation which I also respect).

I agreed with the mentioned post's sentiment.

It's impossible to ask for consent and I'm sure my parents would have wanted a normal child instead of the sack of shit they got.

So a way out should be provided if the someone doesn't wish to participate. It should be a human right for one to decide over one's own life.

I wish my life could have been impactful and meaningful. There are many leaders "good ones" who have led their community towards greater good. I wish I was something like that. I don't really have much of those qualities.

I don't think I wanna be someone else either completely I just wish I was successful in life and do stuff without weighing down by own trauma and upbringing.

All I wished is a good life a relationship, friends, family community and successful career...good brain lol you know. i feel like I'm rather unlucky in all the areas that has to do with people for some reason. That's what I don't like

It would have been better for me to have never been born. Because I have been born, I worry about what people would think when I'm gone, and I think about how much of a disappointment my death would be to people who know me. If I had the ability to erase myself from everyone's memories I'd already be gone.

I would rather not been born at all as i would say I don't gain anything from being born as i never desired to exist before being created. If i never existed then I would have never had the chance to suffer. To me existence is just a risk to get harmed more and nothing to gain from it so I would rather not be born at all.

A couple of years ago I would have said I'd rather have been born, but after living the last couple years in hell, I say I rather not have been born. The amount of suffering I have endured is not worth all the joy I had.

I say, if you can live a life with less pain than joy, then it's better to be born. If not, then no.

However, most people experience more suffering than joy, so it would usually be better to not be born. Some people say the small joys are worth it, but personally, I disagree. Most small joys people have aren't lasting ones, even if they are lasting, most people don't have those either. There are more people with bad families and unbearable living conditions than good ones.
Besides, I don't know if a funny joke or smelling the flowers makes chronic pain or PTSD worthwhile to live with.

I think it's better to not know pain than to know joy. Life seeks to avoid pain and discomfort before joy and comfort, it's why the earliest living things developed fear before love. The best way to not know fear, pain, or discomfort is to not be.

I'm sorry God.
It would have been far better not to have been born.
Especially because of mental health.
I'm sorry God.
I am grateful for everything else God has given me.

I wish I was never born but I feel like for 90% of the world being born was a good thing for them so it's not really something worth resenting your parents for if them, their parents, the parents before them, etc, etc all saw life as a gift enough to bring a new one into the world. We are just unlucky.

There have been times when I've thought so, but also times when I've thought about the good experiences I would have missed out on.

I ran a poll on this once to see what the general feeling was- it was working up to 80% of members wishing they hadn't been born to begin with:

Of course, I suppose to be practical about it, maybe we would need to know for absolutely certain we don't exist in some capacity before death. I don't personally believe that we do. But, life both before and after death isn't exactly something we are certain on. But, so long as there's nothing before then sure, I'd much rather not have been thrown into this life lottery. I don't even want a better life now. I don't want to be faced with the possibilities of things going well or badly full stop.

I think that "not consenting" doesnt make any sense, because you are unable to consent if you dont exist. Inf act, you arent unable to consent until at the very least 13 to 16 year old, which is where wisdom (true self awareness) starts to develop.

This is one of those paradoxes that just exist and nothing can be done about it.

Yes I wish I was never born. There's nothing good I've experienced or could experience that would be worth all this suffering.

For me it's an absolute no brainer; I would rather never have been born at all. That way I wouldn't have to kill myself and ruin my family's lives.

Always as existence is the most torturous and dreadful abomination that just causes harm and suffering with no limit as to how much one can be tortured, I'll always see existence as a mistake no matter what and all I want is to erase this existence so it's like I never suffered at all.

I'd always prefer to not exist than be burdened with this deeply undesirable, cruel existence suffering so unnecessarily just to die in agony from old age but only never existing is true perfection to me, I'll always see it as the most futile, torturous burden to exist and it's one so deeply undesirable that just causes problems there were never a need for and so much suffering torturing existing beings until all is gone and forgotten in non-existence anyway.
