I conveniently live close to a train station. I was wondering if it's too painful and also what kind of position or way is best to make the death as instantaneous as it can possibly be?
To be honest with you the scary part about trains is force being exerted on you in unpredictable ways. Some people end up just losing a few limbs and are thrown from the train left to lay there for half an hour in a horrific condition. I've stood in front of train tracks many times and this outcome being a possibility has been one thing that's always kept me from jumping in front of a train.

Some high-speed trains wind up with a kind of air-cushion in front of them that can disrupt small objects like a person. This can make the effects unpredictable. But to answer your question if death by train is painful, the answer is nequivocally yes. Unless you know the exact type of locomotive, you can't predict anything. So, in all likelihood, given a decent setup, a train will kill you. But, it will probably hurt and not be over quick.
However, you do need to consider the effects you have on the train operator. It's one thing to CTB. It's a lot different to CTB and bring someone else who didn't ask into your method.
Will also say, OP says they're near a station. The driver would see you approaching the tracks or you laying down and hit the brakes. Especially near a station where they're already slowing down.
Ive once seen the aftermath of it and trust me you don't wanna see that. Basically youre all over the place like- literally everywhere because parts will be dragged along as the train goes and some not and of course bc of the impact like some of you is probably 100 m away. Of course you can have "Luck" and only loose one or two limbs but probably you will end up really just in a complete mess. It's a really gruesome death but it's fast (most of the time). But the driver and the police will probably get traumatised. I also live near one and thought about it bc idk why but it's really tempting sometimes. But overall I think I want to have a peaceful passing so maybe sn or hanging. I kinda like the idea of the wrist method but ig it's not reliable enough.

Like silligant said, I personally wouldn't want to put that on the driver of the train. You're essentially forcing someone else to be responsible for your death. But that's just me

Train decapitation is my method. As AnonymousL said, walk along the railroad far enough so the train is at full speed, that way it will decrease your chances of failing and not leave any time for SI or regret.
The best position is laying on the side, facing the train, with you neck on the rail so you basically get beheaded.
I've thought about placing my entire head on the rail so I don't stay councious because otherwise, after my neck is slit, well my brain will still be working for some time and it's kind of scary. There are days where I think it doesn't matter as it will be my final pain ever before eternal neutrality and that the neck has more chances of working because is it more ''fragile'' for lack of better word, but yeah.
How this helped!

You could easily end up flung onto the ground nearby for hours in excruciating pain (and worst case scenario could be found before you die and live paralyzed). Idk the success rate statistics though (or the much less likely recorded breakdown of people flung [extremely painful] vs instant deaths)
Even if you do die there's no guarantee it won't be prolonged and painful.
There's a video of a man in India who got cut in half by a train and stayed conscious for several minutes. He keeps trying to prop himself up on his torso, alternates between trying to flail around and lying back down. With a massive crowd standing around filming him with their phone, yelling and pointing.
I'd say it is painless do to the speed also there is a fair amount of trains around here but its in the public view and i'm not sure where they start same with bridges. but the bridges are short or not high enough in my opinion i'm not sure of any high bridges around plus these aren't my preffered methods but i've thought of it many times. Also you can go to lostallhope it should help answer you question.
He was a very clever and sensitive young man who was overwhelmed by how messed up the world is, he felt like he didn't belong anywhere.
He was 15 but was already completing his senior year of high school and applying for a university of Arts but he was refused because his art was ''non compliant''.
He was bully by his classmates who were around 18 years old, which affected him a lot and pushed him to the edge.

I have the same question.. I'm sure the pain depends on many things. I would think being intoxicated from one thing or another would help the pain of the impacted to a certain degree. Probably the position you get in makes a difference although the perfect position I have no idea. On SS I hear horrible stories about it not being successful but I think it's all hearsay. Unfortunately where I live for some reason I think pressure to be successful pushes young people to jump in front of trains quite frequently. A few years back three young people died within 6 weeks jumping in front a certain train. Almost every year I hear of several people dying this way where I live that is. The nearest track to my house is probably 2 miles away but I'm too physically sick to get there. Not that it would be my first choice to CTB. I know there's always a concern of traumatizing the driver and passengers. From what I know the stories the passengers never realize especially if you do it at night and unfortunately I'm not sure if there's any conductors where I live that have an experienced this. And of course you never want to traumatize innocent individuals. I'm pretty sure the young people that took their life this way we're not bad people by choosing this method I think it's because the tracks were right next to the school and they did it without even thinking. They got to a certain point where they were probability just numb. Sad
