Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I've been lurking in this forum for a while, but I've finally decided to introduce myself and ask a question. I have been frustrated with reality for a long time. I have many reasons, but I'll list the ones that jump out at me here. The state of the world, the sheer amount of suffering, the feeling that nothing meaningful ever changes despite everything constantly moving around us. On a personal level, I do not feel at home in my body, and I've always felt alienated from everyone else. It's hard to explain exactly what I mean by that, but I've always felt like I was processing things in a different way, and like I was watching another species living their lives while I stood on the sidelines. I know that sounds strange, but I imagine a few of you feel the same way.

Anyway, I am also an optimist about the far future. I believe that, given enough time, humanity has the potential to overcome the constraints that translate into the experiences I have outlined above. I am generally a self-preservative person, but I have gotten to the point where I would much rather end my experience than continue enduring this, day after day. So I have been looking into cryonics. I would like to undergo elective cryonic preservation, freezing myself right now at the highest quality possible. This would allow me to stop my current experience and be revived if the future I envision takes shape. If humanity ends up blowing itself up or backsliding into a technological dark age, well, I won't have to be around for it. Unfortunately, it seems like none of the current cryonics providers have an avenue for elective cryopreservation. None of the MAID providers - not even the Swiss ones - offer euthenasia for healthy people in their twenties, and apparently in the jurisdictions of all the major cryonics providers, an autopsy has to be performed after a suicide, which would render the cryonic preservation ineffective.

I was wondering if anyone knows of an alternative route or loophole that would allow me to be cryogenically frozen?

I personally think that if elective cryo preservation became an option, this is what would happen:

After all, someone has to do the work of changing the world for the better...

Haha, wow, xkcd really does have a comic for everything. I feel called out - I am, perhaps predictably, an engineer excited about the future! And yeah, I can see how you'd think that. But honestly I don't think THAT many people would take advantage of it. Most people have things that motivate them to stick around in the present.

I'd place my bets on elective reincarnation... 😬

What do you mean by that?
It was meant as a joke.

What I tried to elude to is after you CTB, or die from any other potential cause, you'd get the choice to reincarnate in a timeline where circumstances are more suitable for you.

I'll let you know when I find out! That is, if I can. 🤣

Anyway; wanted to say I deeply relate to the feeling like an alien, processing differently etc.

As much as I tried to function like 'the others' (not meant in a derogatory sense), I'd feel left out every time. There comes a time when you just go without being noticed.
