I think it would postpone it for several years but wouldn't stop it, it's inevitable. Nothing material can stop it.

It would solve many of them.

I'm on disability and live in poverty. I have to use the foodbank and two soup kitchens to get by. I've had to engage in prostitution in the past in order to afford food and bills. I can't afford dental or optical work, I can't afford some medications I need. I own one pair of pants and only a few shirts. I have clothing and shoes full of holes that I can't afford to replace.

It would delay my CTB considerably. True financial freedom is something that I have never experienced (and certainly never will). I'd take a step back from the chaos of working life and focus on myself. But it wouldn't prevent my CTB outright. My demons would go into hiding for some time, but eventually they'd show their faces again.

For me it actually would. A large part of my problem is capitalism and being on the losing side of it (being dirt poor). I can't afford to go to college to do what I actually want to do in life and having money would fix that. However, I would much prefer to revolutionize the system and make it better for everyone. I really wish I could change the world so that everyone could have a chance at being great and if life isn't for them I believe people deserve a painless peaceful way to leave this world. I really wish I could change things for the better but im just one person and the leaders of this world don't want change.

If you were to win a million, 10 million, 100 million, would it solve the reason for you being on this site? Would you still feel suicidal? I'd love to win that much money and I'd probably do some spontaneous stuff with it, but I'd really just plan on leaving it for those I love.
I remember when Anthony Bourbain died specifically, so many were curious as to how a man of his fame and fortune could commit such an act. I understood though, because realistically no amount of money will fix the problems that I face and have faced.
Yes, that would literally solve 90% of my problems.

If l was to win a Million on the Lottery it would enable me to buy a really large Caravan on a all year Residential site so me and my old dog could finally live somewhere nice for a few years! I would eventually leave the Caravan to the DOG'S TRUST to auction off and use the money to help them take care of all their Animals! P.S l just found out this morning my Father died February 2020! I haven't seen him since June 1991, l don't know how to react/respond to this unexpected information! My ctb date has just been unexpectedly brought forward! I don't know how to react? :-( Sticker295459489423778315

I know this an old thread, but just my 2 cents................it may make a difference. I know money can't buy happiness, but it can certainly buy well-being. An enormous sum of money would let you get just about anything you need, maybe not love, but it could let you get something physically fixed, or at least made better, that needs fixing. Theoretically, a guy could definitely get a woman that he would not normally be able to get, same going for a woman finding a guy. Or hell, a guy finding a guy, or a woman finding a woman, whatever the case may be and that suits your needs. It may not be actual love, and it may be shallow, but it would be companionship, at some kind of cost, but hey, all relationships have some kind of cost, even true love relationships. They're all paid for one way or another; no one rides for free as they say. It would certainly remove one of the stressors out of most people's lives. In essence, you'd be able to "buy" some type of life you don't have now, which, for all practical purposes, would likely be better than what you have currently. I think well-being is an acceptable alternative to true happiness, if that is all that's attainable.

Nope--I'm already financially secure, and reside in a beautiful 1500 sq ft condo 1 mile from the beach---My pain is strictly an emotional loss---It could be a 100 million dollar lotto win and I still wouldn't care, it won't bring her back to life, or lift me from my depths of despair

If I could afford daily medicine to live with less physical pain...YES.
Also, if I could afford a comfortable peaceful space for myself to live..Yes
Otherwise I would share the wealth with family and friends.

Being financially stable and secure would take away a lot of my stress, so temporarily but it wouldn't help with any of my emotional issues and trauma. I guess the pro would be I could afford a nice place for me and my cat away from everyone.

I wonder about this sometimes. The little research I've done says no amount of money can make you happy. I've pondered on the people that say that are the ones with money. I think it would postpone at best . After having money becomes the normal, it would be back to the same

In my case, very likely.

My goals have always been to create a non-profit organization that help animals all over the world and the lottery winnings will fund this.

Protecting rhinos in Africa, helping abandoned cats and dogs up for adoption, savings pangolins (they're the most trafficked animals), etc. I'll setup multiple shelters and animals sanctuary for larger animals, provide education grants for people who wants to be a vet so they're not in debt, provide low cost vaccines for pet owners who needs it, etc.

Ah... one can dream...

Have you seen this? I think this is credible.

Basically, they think after some "threshold" amount increasing money makes no difference. Below that amount, increasing money can make a very big difference.

"The data is pretty clear that when we can financially take care of ourselves, our mental health is better," she said. "It's stressful to be on the grind all the time."

So, yeah. For me, it wouldn't solve all of my problems by any means, but I bet I wouldn't be CTB'ing anytime soon after that, if ever.

Interesting. I can certainly understand the logic behind it but idk, the more money I make, the more ways I figure out how to spend it. That is interesting about the 80's range. It's actually strangely accurate in terms of spending and lifestyle, but definitely not happiness. I'm speaking for myself tho but I'm a very broken person

It would not fix the depression or the chronic illness I have but it would make a difference and I might be able to live just so anyone who still cares about me won't suffer.

So where you live, the income of diminishing returns would be something higher than that. I'm guessing the folks earning under $85K would still be happier earning $85K than not.

I get by okay financially, but no money to go do "whatever I want." If I was financially able to constantly keep myself entertained with new exciting experiences, I bet I'd be more motivated to stick around.

Money in itself would not change my situation, but I was thinking about the subject line of this thread when I wrote my introduction and I realized I could probably tolerate life if I could find some way to fix my brain fog/cognitive dysfunction. I've spent the day on a wild goose chase for modafinil, even though I'm pretty sure it gives me headaches without enough benefit. I told my mother I would try it again after she promised to help me acquire the means to end things, if it comes to that.

I think it would solve my problems temporarily, give me more time. Because i could distract myself and create an environment that suits me. But in general, in the long run - definitely no. No amount of money can solve ideological problems. Im kinda adhere to the antinatalism. Even if all the pain of life consisted in a rarely experienced mild itch, life would not be worth starting. No millions would be enough for me to be able to solve other people's problems, especially non-material ones, and thereby make life more worthwhile for myself. And i don't think money could make me forget about all the terrible shit going on in the world. I tried to change my thoughts by talking to a therapist, religions, drugs, prescribed medications, time, a good life, but it didn't fucking work
