If you could unban a banned member of this forum who would you choose?

This isn't equivalent to revive someone who died. More in the sense who do you think had a good impact on the community. However, in many cases we don't know the reasons why someone was banned. Someone could be a creep in private messages while at the same time present themselves as a good and kind member on the public forum. There is someone I am thinking about who did somethling like that. I am not sure whether this person was actually banned but the person was exposed and I think the person didn't come to the forum because of this.

I think overall @Chinaski had a good impact on the community. He was a controversial member though. But I liked his stances in favor of trans people, in favor of women and against incels. Moreover, we (and some others) argumented that the pro-mortalists on this forum should be constrained in forcing their ideology to others on here.

I think though chinaski had probably a lot warnings. And in some of his posts he was quite rude. I am not 100% certain what happened so he got banned. Maybe he told someone to kill themselves in an argument. Which fully justifies getting banned because this is a red line. I would hope for a different time line though where this didn't happen. Or he could apologize to the other person and promise to never do this again. Even though, I think apologizing wasn't something he was good in. I think though he would never want someone on here to actually commit suicide. I think he did a lot of good by challeging the dominance of pro-mortalists on here. And at the start he was pretty contrarian and alone in doing that. He contributed to the fact that this forum isn't a pro-death echo chamber.

I think some of his threads crossed boundaries like the following. Okay I cannot find it anymore. Maybe it was deleted because I criticized it earlier. But he asked something like whether you would like to go voluntarily to a concentration camp if the Nazis came into power.

I doubt this was the sole reason for his ban though.

Chinaski offered a lot but he had his problems. He and apologizing went together like oil and water. He could just as self-certain as all the promortalists he railed against. Plus he was very dismissive of autism and neurodivergence so that's something you shouldn't be missing.

There is rarely one way to handle interpersonal issues so if someone chooses to be abrasive and harsh all the time, I just find that to be superfluous.

Sad I got on her bad side with a harmless joke in the twilight days of her stay here. She also offered a lot but like Chinaski she also had a problem of being superfluously harsh and allowing for little personal room for simply being wrong.

I guess it's uncouth to talk about banned users like this but whatever...

The thread is interesting. I hadn't realised some people had actually been banned. I wondered where Ambivalent had gone.

I don't quite remember who the member was but, they got mixed up in a drama here once and were suspended for a time but, they allowed them back- thankfully.

I miss people more who just vanished or possibly/ likely CTB.

also, I wouldn't unban anyone without knowing why they got banned in the first place (which normally isn't told to us) and discussing it with the other mods and the user first~

Unfortunately I think what led to it was him trying to post someone's personal info or contact their family out of concern, he would try to dig too deep for his "in memoriam" posts I think. I was actually a fan of EvisceratedJester until she attacked members I quite like.

Aside from that, my presence on this forum has been so sporadic over the past year or so that I've lost track of who has departed or been banned. While I genuinely enjoyed interacting with a select few individuals who have since been banned, their names escape me. Fortunately, the majority of the members I value are still active and their accounts are unbanned

I wondered where she had gone. She got a stick up her ass over something I said pretty early on in my membership (seems she likes to "take on" noobs who didn't fit her definition of decent human beings) which I honestly found hysterical. Why some people let someone they have never met, and are never gonna meet, get under their skin so bad that they follow them around a forum for suicidal people taking digs at them is beyond me. Lol There's gotta be a joke there somewhere but damned if I can figure it out. I've never been one to lose sleep over what other people thought about me. I guess I should thank my bitch of a mother for breaking my give a shit-o-meter into a million pieces before I made it to grade school. Haha!

All the other folks who have been banned I miss for one reason or another. But ... I know a few of the mods and I trust their judgment. Being a moderator is not for the faint-of-heart (I'm a mod on another international forum) because sometimes people start feeling the rules don't apply to them. And any time you have to ban a member -- especially an active, long-term person -- it is uncomfortable. Thing is the rules are there for a reason. Just try to be nice. Honestly, it's really not that hard and the mods would REALLY appreciate it.
