First it would depend on whether or not you are talking about a theistic god - which means that they originate from a religious text or ideaology, because if that is the case then the scripture of that religion would have to be consulted as they contain the supposed laws of their divine being. Even then it can get confusing since many religions have denominations with differing opinions on the same character that they all worship.
Not all divine beings are of a religious origin though. Deism is an idea that proposes that supernatural and all-powerful being(s) do exist, but they are not neccessarily responsible for all actions that happen. A deist, for example, could believe that god merely created the laws of nature that govern this reality, but once the universe as we know it was created this all-powerful entity stepped away and was no longer in control. Anything that happens after this was not of gods influence - not directly. Given that nature is indifferent then god, by extension, would be indifferent too since from a deistic point of view it was of his design.
