I read an article in a German newspaper. And I cannot believe the number that was mentioned. Stanford economists allegedly found out that in 2026 an American consumer would abstain from using generative AI for a month if someone paid him at least 125 dollar a month. In 2025 the number was 98 dollar a month.

Honestly, I cannot imagine that this is true. Especially, not when inflation hits so badly. I am not sure how the research was done. I guess there is a lot of wealth disparity in the US. I know a lot of friends who would not spend a single penny for AI.

Personally, I benefit from AI when I ask it for feedback. But I also have money issues. However, I could never imagine spending more than 20 bucks per month for AI. Moreover, I came to the conclusion that using AI chatbots can also be detrimental for my mental health. The AI chatbots even told me in order to feel better I have to stop my over-analysis of social situations. And this is something I use AI for. ChatGPT wasn't content when I told it about my conclusion that using chatGPT less frequently might be the logical conclusion to its feedback.
