I don't necessarily mean, who goes to the gym. Who out there takes regular walks, bike rides, yard work, etc?

I'm in a funk today, and I think it's because I've been rather lazy the past few weeks. I haven't been keeping up with the yard, I haven't been out on the bike, all of things I've been "working on" have stagnated. As a result my diet has been poor, and my mind has been punishing me.

What about you? Do you actively try to get outside, or get yourself moving? Anything you've been putting off?

I try to take the dog for walks a few times a day. Each walk is about a mile. If it's too hot we cut it short. He LOVES walks. And I enjoy being outside and listening to music. The thing about exercise is, as much as I don't want to do it sometimes, I never regret it after the fact.

I find being active generally improves mood after the fact even if before the fact I am greatly resistant to it. It's unfortunate how much Covid has made us sedentary.

It's funny, I've been more active during quarantine. It's been awesome. Then I just hit a lull. It's maddening.

I can't stand exercise. It never feels as good as people say it does and I hate how I feel after it more than I ever did before it. I know people say to just keep doing it but even at a time where I've done it a lot by going to the gym four times a week for six months and it still never ended up feeling better. Maybe my body is just broken since it would rather I be constantly be sore instead of getting healthier after exercise.

I make several trips from my bed to the fridge or pantry each day. Does that count?

Crazy, isn't it? Especially considering the opposite. I always regret hangovers and they never stop me from drinking.

I always liked taking long walks and since I'm jobless I walk for 3-4 hours a day. Every other day I also exercise at home with dumbbells.
Exercising and keeping track of calories is the only aspect of my life I have under control now, everything else is running wild.

I feel this way about running. It is never fun, and it never feels good. However, riding a bike or a canoe is good exercise and is actually quite fun for me. Is there anything out there that's fun to do/play for you?

No. Of course not. But you probably knew that already.

I didn't mind things like badminton and swimming but I'm still too lazy to be able to do those regularly enough for it to make a real impact. Walking is also okay though I see it as tedious if I don't have somewhere to go in mind.

I think that's why I like other things. Running for the sake of running is miserable. Fun for the sake of fun is fun.

What else feels unmanageable? I find that having a rigid exercise routine is tough, and counting calories is damn near impossible. With that kind of discipline, what are you struggling with?

i do, sometimes, on and off. i'll be really dedicated for a month or two, and then i'll stop. a year later, the same thing happens.

i didn't really feel better after i did it, i usually just committed to it because having a routine felt nice. and feeling my heart pounding felt nice, too.

Sorry you're in a funk brother. I hope you can find your mojo. I find exercise is a (sometimes very) temporary reprieve from mental troubles - I hope you can can find peace and reprieve.
I love to work out, the fact that I can't do it now has really impacted my mental state - I'm always promising myself I'll do better or try harder, but I don't...
Love and respect to you brother

I do CrossFit pretty much every day and before the pandemic hit, I was training for a marathon. I got up to 20 mile long runs. Today I did CrossFit and then a 30-mile bike ride to a nature reserve and back. Losing mobility due to inactivity would be worse than death to me.

Still depressed and lonely and want out though.

Damn. That's intense. I always wanted to try cross fit, but I found it to be cost prohibitive.

What else do you do? Why do you feel lonely?

I'm so embarrassed about being me that I don't get close to anyone, ever. So it's self-inflicted loneliness, I guess. I run away if an interaction goes beyond surface-level superficialities. Fitness goals just give me something to concentrate on and look busy with until I find a way out.

For me, I had to learn how to be ok with myself. I also had to learn how to be social. Now. I'm very comfortable in my own skin, and amongst people. I even go out of my way to talk to strangers (IRL, not just on the internet).

Given all of your success with fitness, do you think you could approach societal proficiency in a similar manner? Would you be happier if you were more confortable with yourself and others?

A few months back I started excising regularly. I was walking 8 miles, hiking, biking, running, and using weights every day and it was really great. I found excising to be a great distraction and it temporarily improved my mood much like alcohol and drugs used to do for me. Unfortunately I am now stuck working a desk job all day and have limited time for myself and haven't been excessing much. Modern life rarely allows time for yourself.

I exercise 5-7 days a week. I love it. I notice a huge improvement in my mood and my thought processes after I exercise. Gotta love those endorphins

I just think it's too late for me to start building anything. I had everything handed to me when I was younger and I let it all slip through my fingers. I had amazing opportunities and the potential for an amazing life. Now I'm alone and just embarrassed for who I am now. Also, because suicide has been on the table for such a long time now, I've not thrown myself into rebuilding because I've been so focussed on my exit plan. The exit plan is crippling me and becoming more and more inevitable. I can't make new friends (if that's even possible anymore) when this is all happening under the surface.
Everything we're talking about requires similar things. Be it CTB, exercise, running a marathon, making friends, being comfortable, tweaking your career, etc. They all take dedication, planning, practice, effort, and desire. It sounds like you know how to do some of these things already.

If you want to talk, I'm happy to listen and challenge.

I don't exercise at all, now since I've been quarantined I don't move much but when I go to school I have to walk to school-walk to the metro station which is half km and then from the metro to the bus and there's quite a lot of walking involved so I count that as exercise. But I don't like sports and don't find the fun, I prefer to stay at home

I used to do a lot of martial arts and walking before the pandemic and I had never felt better. Helped my fibromyalgia, my mood, and gave me something to do to keep busy. Didn't make shit go away, but dulled things for me, definitely.

My bipolarism makes it difficult to keep up with an exercise regimen. I haven't worked out in at least a month at this point. Which isn't a bad thing, I'm a naturally small guy at 70kg

Real, actually regularly scheduled exercise? I gave that up years ago. When I'm so depressed that it is physically killing me, I just run around in circles in my garage. It kind've helps in the short-term but It seems to yield diminishing returns.
