How did you discover SanctionedSuicide?

I was googling suicide methods.

When I started to get really suicidal (worse than usual) about 1 year ago I decided to search for suicide-related terms online; I wanted to see if there were more people out there who felt similarly. The old Sanctioned Suicide over at Reddit came up, so I lurked there and read other peoples posts. After the community was banned someone else on another subreddit asked if there were any other alternatives, and somebody else replied by giving the link here.

Was trying to find somewhere to go, I read somewhere in an online article that there were a couple of sites around. And I saw on reddit about this place. Consulted miss google and ta-dah!

I was looking specifically on how to hang myself and the site came up. Glad I kept digging because I found other methods I prefer. I was thinking about He and was so glad I read info on here that led me to realize how difficult it would be to acquire the proper apparatus. I would've done it incorrectly and failed. So glad I learned about SN on here.

I was looking for info on how to cook cyanide potassium from apples. Apricots are apparently far easier and produce more potent cyanide.
You need a chemistry degree for that, though.lol

I googled something pertaining to suicide for the millionth time and came across an article that was bashing this site because apparently it "encourages people to commit suicide". It's so sad how suicide is looked at in society, as if the people coming here aren't looking for a way out to begin with or at least SOMEONE who understands why they'd want to take their life.

All I know is, this site has helped me more than any pro-life site ever has and I am so incredibly thankful for having found this community ❤

Like many other people have answered, I found this site simply by Googling methods. I lurked for a couple days before joining because the nature of these discussions were fascinating to me.

I just remembered that even before I was googling methods, I was also looking a transcript of the poem from the second to last episode of Bojack Horseman which is pretty relevant to suicide. Surprisingly one of the first page results is somebody from here who posted it. I forgot who that user was and I don't know if they're even here but whoever they are, thank you.

An angel appeared to me in a dream and gave me the link. It said: This is the new Canaan, sign up and find happiness! Oh, who am I kidding? It wasn't really an angel, it was Google. And it wasn't really happiness that I found, but a place of respite from the pro life bullshitry of our disingenuous society. But I wish there were angels. I was part of the Sanctioned Suicide subreddit before it got banned, so I learned about it there.

Was on the OG subreddit back in like 2015 already, then was not particularly suicidal for a few years at around the time it got banned, but I knew this place was created, so I sought it out again when things got worse again.

It was because of the media attention in my country. I came across an article. It did not name the website but soon enough I found this place. I am very glad that I did, it is the one place where there is no toxic positivity and platitudes.

I discovered S.S when I desired to bond with a community that felt as deeply as I do. S.S has prolonged my life, but in a good way. I cannot remember every detail of my discovery of S.S, I think S.S discovered me, but I can tell you that this platform is a Godsend for me! I would rather bond and chat with beings who authentically care and feel as I do. This platform should be the first link that pops up on the browser when searching anything to do with suicide. Not some artificial hotline where people are probably payed to listen to us! I don't truly believe that those people genuinely care. Thank you S.S for everything! I love you all!
