Depression has been hitting me hard lately. I haven't been able to keep up with daily hygiene routines, especially concerning my dental hygiene. I went to the dentist today and they told me I had over 10 cavities all around my mouth. I am getting fillers over the next few weekends, but it costs so much and cavities will appear again if I don't start maintaining my dental hygiene. It's hard, however, to remind myself everyday to get out of bed when all I want to do is sleep immediately.

Any tips or suggestions on how I can motivate myself to establish a better routine?

Just have to make it a routine. I would shower monthly and brush monthly until a couple months ago. I do it every day now. Still not enough, but progress.

Just have to do it. Morning, night

Try to do just basic brushing, don't think about it as a hard task, make it simple. And if you have the energy left after the basics, you can always do more.

Brushing my teeth in the shower really helped me. And then I have a water flosser that is waterproof so I can clean my gums with that and I honestly like doing it because it feels nice. It hurts in the being I think, I had gingivitis when I started so it really hurt.

If getting out of bed is an issue you can brush with just water and swallow it when done. You won't get all the benefits, but it comes close, and you can keep water + a brush at hand.

Honestly toothpaste tastes like shit.

Doing it right before bed wakes you up.

Everything in this world is an inconvenience and I'm sorry any of us were born, it all sucks horseshit
