How can I bring myself to jump off a high-rise balcony?

I'm afraid that if I step out onto the balcony and hold onto the railing, I won't have the courage to let go.

Should I sit on the railing and put my hands in my pants pockets? Then rock back and forth from side to side in the direction of the fall?

Or should I sit on the railing facing the apartment and bring a dumbbell attached to a rope, then let it fall and let the fall pull me down into the depths?

I tried waiting at the ledge for the right moment, but for me in my experience i was always thinking. SI is strong in front of the void. I personnaly prefer to think before and then count on impulsivity because jump is the only escape possible and then do it. I think it depends of the person.
Your idea to go side to side or with the rope is interesting.
But you know for jumping the real number one question is : is it enought hight?

Knowing that, is for me positive and negative. It helps to know that it will work but it's facing death without doubt.

I always thought that I might convince myself to jump if I felt some form of "protection" or "comfort" like a blanket covering me. It might also help with obscuring your vision so you don't get scared from the height of which you are jumping from. I don't know, maybe this is a low IQ idea like most of my ideas.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it was a bad idea to block the view. I've also thought that it would be better to look up so you don't see the depth.

It's actually a great idea to block your view I would have done it myself if I ever jumped

Also adding wireless earbuds to listen to one last song as a bonus

I jumped off an overpass in July of 2023 and my profile pic is my spine and pelvis now. I am very disabled and can barely walk. I don't suggest falling.
I
I did around 100 ft and was in psychosis and I live disabled and miserable now. I don't suggest jumping.

No balcony will ever be ever be high enough. You need a drop of like 100 meters I think. There was an exact number somewhere on this forum.

That's horrible. So sorry this happened to you. May I ask you something about it, or is it too insensitive/traumatizing? You don't have to reply.

Thank you. What did you feel while falling? And during the impact? How long where you just laying there until an ambulance arrived?
I looked down…. I closed my eyes stepped forward and felt nothing falling down. I didn't even get the feeling I have had on a roller coaster. Nothing… it went black.

The ambulance arrived and I was talking and moving my hands per reports in my medical chart. I remember putting my hands in a heart shape and laying down to mentally black out again in the ambulance.

I don't remember them retrieving me or getting to me in a hard to reach angle. The ambulance arrived within an hour as I jumped on a busy overpass.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. The mind really finds ways to shut out these horrible moments, huh?

I hope you find some sense of closure and that fate is kind to you moving forward. I can't imagine what you're going through. Hugs <3

Yes. I did not have any pain and when I went to the hospital they put me on hardcore drugs so I didn't really remember any pain.

I punctured my lungs, broke my pelvis, ripped my pelvis from my spine, busted my bladder and cracked some spinal areas on L4 L5.

I am barely recognizable as the same person. I did die that day I just didn't die.
It's a mess.
