  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

You make a good point.

Is it really recovery, or just a temporary remission of symptoms?

From my experience it has been a temporary recovery. Enough time to get my life back together. But things always seem to fall apart again later on.

Maybe it's me, a lax support network, or insufficient medications.

I always seem to think this time will be different. I'll do a better job of managing my health. I'll try and minimize the stress.
It's not just you: I have experienced the roller-coster for years. Breakdown -> repair -> etc

It kills any hope of ever finding stability or happiness.

Have you found any medications that help?

I don't have good experience with medications. Usually they cause more problems than they solve.

Sometimes I feel that I am just not very resilient to the stress of a normal life. If I could just find some simple way of living, maybe things could stabilize.

Every time that I get well I have gone back to work. And eventually I have a breakdown. I'm beginning to think that working is contributing to my problems.

My shrinks always prescribe the usual antidepressant + lithium + antipsycotic mix. Lots of negative side effects - heat, sleepiness, etc. The cycle recurs anyhow after some time. I am struggling to overcome a depressive episode right now and detest the effort to remake my life again.

So no, I don't have an effective medication for bipolar. It's a nightmare for me as many of us here.

I gather most here at SS are mentally ill with bipolar, bpd, autism or such chronic maladies.

Generally speaking, it's the same situation for me. I'm stuck in a rut of depression. I just got off the antipsychotics, which were making things worse. I'm less suicidal without those meds, go figure.

I've never been impressed with the medications prescribed for bipolar disorder. Seems like they just throw a bunch of spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks.

I am also not excited about rebuilding my life. I just want to crawl in a cave and fade away. I've applied for SSDI, hoping that it comes through. But not getting my hopes up.

Best wishes to you Rozzy.

hey Beeper. SSDI good luck. Honestly I have about had it with bipolar. I just don't see a good ending to the crazy cycles. I've been lucky so far but it could be worse.

Now I'm just biding my time and prepping next steps. If I find a reliable method and partner in the meantime... but it is what it is so not so worried nor beating myself up. This is illness.

Good day sir.
