I recorded myself hanging partially and noticed that when I lost consciousness I got these violent convulsions. When they happen I guess SI kicks in, and I could see myself desperately trying to get up, or cling onto something. They look pretty dramatic on camera, but I have absolutely no recollection of them when they're happening.

I was wondering if anyone else experiences this, or if maybe I should just avoid partial altogether to prevent this.

i see this a lot on videos of those hanging themselves that i see on some gore websites or homicide case studies and my theory is that it might be similar to how some people have violent clonus after nerve damage

maybe it is your nerves going haywire?

it could also be that you were struggling to get out of the noose and you just do not remember it because of low blood oxygen in your brain

im perplexed, i think we need one of the more medically inclined users to help with this

That's a good idea, it might be like a myoclonus or a stroke that occurs when the brain is deoxygenated. but idk.
I've seen those videos too I sometimes wonder if they experience something similar when they struggle to escape. But it definitely wasn't a conscious decision on my part.

Be careful. If you do this too often you'll give yourself brain damage. I asked chatGPT why the body convulses when deprived of oxygen and this is what it said

The brain is highly sensitive to oxygen deprivation, and it relies on a constant supply of oxygen to function properly. When oxygen levels in the blood become critically low, the brain's normal electrical activity can become disrupted, leading to abnormal firing of neurons. This disruption can result in convulsions or seizures.

Convulsions are essentially uncontrolled and involuntary muscle movements. They can involve various parts of the body and may manifest as twitching, shaking, jerking, or rhythmic contractions. These convulsions are the body's attempt to restore oxygen supply to the brain by increasing blood flow and enhancing oxygen delivery. The exact mechanisms underlying convulsions during oxygen deprivation are complex and not fully understood.

What exactly made you come back if you fell unconscious ? Is it due to the convulsions, you manage, even unconsciously, to come back on your feet ? Or do i misunderstand something ?

It's my main concern about partial, people talking about having been unconscious but somehow didn't work.

I was either unconscious or partially unconscious. Either way, I don't remember being able to see or consciously think about what was happening to me.

It wasn't painful at all, but on video I could see myself trying to stand up or grab onto something. it wasn't a conscious decision though, I wonder if it's my body unconsciously reacting to the intense convulsions and oxygen deprivation, and trying to compensate.

Thank you for your answer.
I'm once again afraid by this method then... What if convulsions make me step on my feet so I don't die but went enough to be a vegetable ?
I'm really annoyed though cause rn it's my only method available with jumping and I know I won't be able to jump.
When I discovered this website I really thought partial hanging was finally THE solution but it appears much more complicated than it seems..
I am confused, sometimes I read that it's very effective, sometimes that it's not reliable at all...

Yeah, it's scary. I also worry about something going wrong and risking brain damage. It's just hard to know how your body is going to react. Partial is hard because what works perfectly smoothly for one person might be more complicated for the next. But I really sympathize because even with that, it just feels like this is the only method that's readily available.

Personally I don't think partial is for me. I've actually had a history of convulsions, not just here. So I'm considering full suspension. Even if it risks some pain, it's a much more surefire method.

Definitely frustrating though.

As @SockAlias said, you have a convulsion due to lack of oxygen, also known as hypoxia.
The convulsions/seizures can be anything from small occasional jerking movements to what looks like full tonic clonic seizures. None of these movements are coordinated so they would not lead you to stand up.
The other thing that happens is decorticate and or decerebrate posturing. Look it up, it's all because of severe brain damage.

It's involuntary convulsions. They definitely can look like you're trying to stand up or free yourself, but you aren't. Be very careful practicing. I see it's already been said, but you're cutting off oxygen to your brain and you'll cause damage over time and the longer you're out.

Would lots of alcohol and being so drunk make full suspension easier you think?

I agree with Bedhead, You cant give the self destruct code, if your main bridge and control systems are faulty! Even in death, the bridge is damn important.

Holy shit. Pretty sure I saw myself exhibiting decerebrate posturing on video. Not good…

Oh, I'm sure it would. Something to think about.
