  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

1 week and 2 days in for a job i've been searching for. fired because i fell asleep for legitimately 3 seconds. i was so suicidal the weeks leading up to getting the job, and stuck it out because of this, spent nearly $400 on clothes and a bag, got my hopes up, to be fired over something so small. this job is so insanely stressful, i've been breaking out and losing my hair. i'm so so done. this was the last thing keeping me going

If they will fire you over something small like that maybe you're better off without it. Sounds like if it wasn't one thing it would have been another thing. Too many shitty jobs out there.

Yeah maybe. It just feels like the nail in the coffin for me.

What did you do for work?
law clerk. i wanted to be a lawyer in the future, so i was really happy to land the job with literally 0 qualifications and being significantly younger than the other staff.

Well, this isn't anywhere near a death blow to your ambitions, especially considering you're young. And now you have some experience to list on future applications, which is usually the sticking point for young people entering the job market. However, you should also take this as a learning experience - you don't really get to fall asleep and get away scot free in this line of work, it's a really bad look. Still, not the end of the world if you take it on the chin.

99 percent of employers will fire you if you are a new hire and they see you sleeping. even for a second.

Yeah they said that they'd be more than happy to offer me a letter of rec/references. i have narcolepsy and my eyes were genuinely shut for 3 seconds. they're not in the wrong, but i'm still sad about it.

Would it help your case if they knew you had narcolepsy? That sounds pretty serious, and not your fault for falling asleep for just seconds.

i mean maybe but i'm a prideful person, so i'm reluctant. i feel terribly embarrassed and would never go back regardless so i don't think it would be productive for me to share that personal information.

i just kinda said "okay, thanks for the opportunity. my laptop pin is xyz and everything else is left as default". at the very least i kept my dignity and composure
