I'd say there's quite a few of us that have very real reason not to forgive our parents. But, as corny as it sounds, a part of my process to getting better has been realizing my parents aren't exactly malicious villains. I never thought they were completely evil. But I realize that they're also suffering from depression and undiagnosed ADHD/Autism like I did for so long. I feel especially bad for my mom who is in her 60s, still working and being forced to care for my 22 year old brother who's never had a job. I wish none of us were on the spectrum, or, at least got help a lot sooner.
Is there anyone else who's had this sort of realization about their parents? I guess I'm over analyzing that fact that I'm developing more nuance as I grow up. But I do feel bad for my parents and I do forgive them for my neglect as a child.
