Discussion for how stigmatized suicide and mental health are its ironic that the people on this forum are some of the nicest ive met in a while

like people will make you think "mentally ill people are always dangerous" or just demonize suicidal people as being evil but most of the people here are just the opposite

I think part of that is the fact that the people here can understand and empathize with what we are all feeling and going through. Of course everyone has their own life experience and perspective, but I've found that suicidal people can be so much kinder to other suicidal people because we can relate to the feeling and don't see it as a bad thing. There's nothing wrong with struggling or with feeling ready to leave this earth, and this community is full of supportive, caring people who just want to help others in similar positions do what is best for them.

Yeah I watch that one youtuber's video about this site and how "evil" it was but I was wondering how far he had to go to find people he was using examples of in his videos. This forum gave me an outlet to find others that could actually understand and not push the whole "please live its poggers" speech or even the "just die and get it over with" comments. This. I think a lot of the stigma comes from people forcing their own views onto others. The "please kill yourself" crowd, which I figure is what people imagine when they think of a community like this.

It was a breath of fresh air for me to find this website as someone who has been struggling HARD for quite some time. It hasn't cured or remedied my conditions but it's undeniable that the overwhelming majority here are very compassionate when it comes to mental illness or pain in general.

Stigmas are horrible. I'll never understand what people gain from them other than torturing a helpless soul. And it depends on how they are mentally ill. Some want to hurt themself while some want to hurt others. Regardless of which, you'd be labelled as mentally ill though I have to disagree. Mentally ill is a broad term and I don't believe suicidal people should come under it. However, this horrible world decided to anyways. I hope this helps.

It's good that you've encountered people that you feel comfortable with. I think most people, by being on this site, are beyond the masks that many "normal" people live behind. Like a "come to Jesus moment" where you're so far down that everything else is minor so less posing and "winning" especially on the webs.

Hits it right on the nail for me. This forum is pro-choice and I love that. Its ultimate freedom, the right to die is a universal human right that should not be taken away from you. Its my choice If i want to, why should it be someone elses choice?

It shouldn't matter what pro life people think, to me it's silly labelling suicidal people as being "evil". To me, being suicidal is just having awareness of the fact that life is just a futile struggle where there is no real relief from suffering. Suicide really shouldn't be so stigmatised, when in fact suicide is a perfectly logical option to escape from this burden that was so cruelly forced onto us.

I was also led here by that video, figured the least I could do was check it out and after lurking here for a bit, I realized that calling the video a misjudgment is a huge understatement. It's a good space for the people who need it, which happens to include me
