I just wanted to share my experience with diazepam (Valium). Since I take 5mg everyday at the same hour (6 pm) before eating, I feel less suicidal after that. And I sleep better.
But when I wake up, it's awful, I just want to drink my SN and sleep forever...

Precision : my suicidality is not a side effect of Valium. And I take it for my dystonia and for my anxiety.

It's only my personal experience, but it may help someone else. That said, take care with benzos because it's addictive.

I mean it makes sense especially if you're already suicidal diaz xans etizs all benzos reduce anxiety in that calm relaxed state it's easier to commit suicide that's why so many here take it when they attempt it helps rather then focus things that can go wrong and stuff in your life you can complete the act with no worries. Idk maybe try taper off it or switch to a lower dose it doesn't sound it's something you want considering you said "its awful"

In general, benzodiazepines help you experience quite pleasant relaxation, so much so that they act as a very short-lived "antidepressant," since this effect fades over time even if you take the same dose or a higher one.

Another point to note is that if you want to enjoy their effect, you have to take them every two or three days, preferably no more than two consecutive days, and at low doses. Otherwise, you'll tolerate the dose and the "antidepressant" effect will be lost, although you will certainly experience a relaxing effect.

Yeah exactly it can be relaxing I prefer to take it recreational every so often so my tolerance is low was prescribed it once 10mg x 3 a day in the psych ward but it was way too sedating I lacked awareness I hated being in such a relaxed vulnerable state constantly it's like I was zombified and completely numb to everything idk how people enjoy being numb I hate it and it's something I suffer with genuinely it just intensifies it no connection to the world I tried to hurt myself but the staff would always stop for me and then I just keep trying. It has an opposite effect. When I die I want to have awareness of what I'm doing I don't wanna be completely numb I want to leave this world feeling the emotional pain and knowing that I'm freeing myself from it finally being at peace.
