The only reason why it feels like a temptation instead of a solution is because I'd have to go back to my home country and live with my family again, and that'd be the emotional equivalent of CTB. It is close to not-an-option to go back, but I'm also desperate for a solution. I've been on antidepressants since 13 and every time I'm not on them I go back to being suicidal, and the last few times I went on antidepressants they didn't really work either. By now I've started to feel like the only way to fix my brain is by turning it off, and ECT looks like a reasonable alternative to that. I genuinely wish I was capable of feeling appreciation for life for once. I just really, really don't want to go back there. I could also do it where I live but it'd probably take a long as shit waiting list.

It did 17 ECT treatments when meds stopped working for me. Unfortunately I had no improvement but many people do.
It is used as a last resort, so make sure you've tried enough different meds first. There is also TMS and Ketamine. You are almost guaranteed some memory loss with ECT.

I did ECT, it gave me memory loss and overall I feel like I've lost a lot of my mental competency aka "smartness" in the process. I wouldn't, imho.

I'm sorry. For God's sake, let those who read this take warning. And God damn the reptilian whitecoats who do this to us - yeah, including the interfering impostors who spy on us here, fuck off and burn in hell.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I did read about memory loss and it was one of my main worries as my memory is already really bad. I thought of ketamine treatments and so on but since I am starting from 0 again in a new country it might be harder to get.

I think I understand what you mean, it sounds like it's not so good after all. I really hope it gets better for you. I was already suspicious that antidepressants over the years have done something irreparable on me but I'll be wary about this. Sometimes I feel like shit doctors are just using people as lab rats.
