Venting Every time i open my mouth i regret it

I decided to try and socialize yesterday. Still only online because im scared. I downloaded discord and joined some servers. It was really intimidating because there were so many people who already know each other, but i tried anyways. I texted hello, how are you, somebody replied but it didn't go beyond that. I feel like a fool for even attempting. What was i even thinking? I looked so stupid there. What is my problem? They probably felt so weirded out by me because im off-putting. Because i don't know how to talk to people. I shouldn't have tried im so embarrassed...

I know that all too well, though in your case I wouldn't give up just yet, especially if you've only done basic interactions like saying hello or how are you! Maybe just read chat for a while and jump in when there's a topic you could contribute to, even if it's just a few words. Try doing that consistently for a few days and see if it starts feeling more natural. It's totally normal for it to take a while if people already know each other in chat.

I feel like people are more likely to think that you're simply shy than straight up awkward tbh
Depends a lot on the server too, finding the right one might take quite a bit of time
