Does the treatment have to be in belgium?
How else are those Belgian doctors going to make a decision? How can a doctor/psychiatrist from another country where euthansia isn't legal give advice on this?
hi, do you know if very severe scoliosis (40+ degrees) alongside cardiomegaly applies for this? i know scoliosis is fixable but it requires a ton of money (which i don't have) and it causes me a TON of pain and difficulties daily, though i'd assume they charge foreigners for this anyway i'm just curious
It's possible. I don't know if you can translate PDF files (I guess AI can), but check the PDF at the bottom of this site:
De Federale Controle- en Evaluatiecommissie Euthanasie publiceert vandaag de cijfers omtrent de geregistreerde euthanasies in België in 2024.
overlegorganen.gezondheid.belgie.be
It mentions heart and bone diseases.
I don't know what they charge. Most Belgians have a hospitalisation insurance and I think that would cover it.
Thank you for the information, yes this and everything else I've seen proves not even euthanasia is the "easy way out". All of it is so difficult and time consuming and exhausting, I can't even bother. I'm too tired.
I came to the same conclusion some time ago. I can relate how you feel; at some point, my psychiatrist even mentioned euthanasia.
Today, I'm in a better place (not 100%, but still). Every now and then I check SaSu to read what people think or tell about euthanasia in Belgium.
Switzerland in the only country that accepts foreigners for euthanasia and the price for euthanasia was 10,000 euros, but that was 10-15 years ago. Prices are probably upped by now :(
This is simply not true. Belgium will accept foreigners who request euthanasia in case of unbearable physical suffering (terminal cancer for instance). Most foreigners come from France.
I don't know what they're charged, but it would surprise me if it's 10.000 euro.
