Euthanasia for OCD a few months away

My euthanasia request was granted a few weeks ago and meow I'm waiting for the appointment with the doctor whom will actually put me to sleep and sdminister the barbituates to stop my heart.

I hope I can endure the next few weeks/months and then fight my survival instinct to leave this world and all my problems far behind.

Regardless, holistically I am still extremely grateful I was given this life. May everyone here find peace either in this world or the next

Oh neat, I didn't know Belgium had assisted suicide laws. It is comforting that people in these places can ctb but it is also a little discomforting that in the most progressive places in the world people still want to ctb. :/

J'espère pouvoir supporter les prochaines semaines/mois et ensuite combattre mon instinct de survie pour laisser ce monde et tous mes problèmes loin derrière.

Sounds incredible to me too. In case of euthanasia for unbearable mental suffering there has to be an incurable disease (a mental disorder like bipolar or schizophrenia).

Perhaps the OP is suffering from more than OCD. I'm guessing that is the case, but I can imagine someone having OCD in a way that living is impossible.

BTW you do know the majority of the Belgians talk Dutch, not French, right? The OP is Flemish. (-;

Only when you have a physical, incurable, terminal disease. Euthanasia in case of 'ondraaglijk psychisch lijden' (unbearable mental suffering) is only meant for Belgians.

A depression defined as curable and therefore Italy refused to allow assisted suicide. In reality Italy would not have granted it even if it was incurable. Italy allows assisted suicide only in some regions for terminally ill patients. However, the man from Como did not give up and contacted a Swiss clinic. The Swiss clinic accepted his reasons, so it was possible to carry out assisted suicide and then Switzerland sent the body back to Italy which was seized by the Italian authorities. Now they have closed the case, because Switzerland can do whatever it wants in its territory. Cost of assisted suicide (8,000 euros). 100% guaranteed death. Non-existent suffering.

I'm so sorry that your experience in life has been so painful. You seem like a wonderful person and I hope that you find peace after leaving this world. In the religion I follow, Judaism, all life is sacred. However, I interpret it as life should be enjoyed only to the extent that's possible and if you feel your only option is to leave this life behind, your decisions are also sacred. Here in the U.S. (at least where I live) euthanasia isn't provided and I wish it was. The way it is carried out in other nations is done really well and you shouldn't be forced to live with such unbearable pain if you feel that it's best to get rid of the pain for good
