Why do you think this is a simulation?
Do you have any proof or ideas?

Respawn as in reincarnation?

The concept is not evil ?

You don't think the creator is evil when there were millions gased in camps and people are brutally murdered every day?

Do you understand simulation?

There is no preceding in a simulation?

? Why

You think you will be punished?

Like what?

I do, but I am questioning.

I went from being on a path to becoming Catholic, to wondering if we're in a sim.

Lately, I have been struggling with my faith, and find myself agreeing with certain points put forth by atheists such as Christopher Hitchens and Theoretical Bullshit.

However, I still believe there is a spiritual aspect to existence.

In the form of punishment and reward. However there are negative and positive consequences for our actions

Thanks
I agree. You act with a negative mental state and you receive negative consequences

I believe in god but not the religious definition of god. I belive that god is a game designer, a hypercomputer or something, and that you get judged based upon your actions. I don't think you have to believe in god or religion in order to get the approval of god. What matters is what you do with the cards you've been dealt, it decides where and what you respawn as.
I have this theory that nature and life itself is the result of an algorithm. Its a complex theory. Pretty simple in fact. If you look at fractals, an wver repeating pattern they are in everyrhing in nature and when you view only a segment of them they appear relatively patternless but zoom out from or into them you see a repeating complex set of shapes that occur in infinity from both ends of the string. They're just sets of information that repeat and influence each other. Much like an algorithm. It's commonly what people see when they close their eyes when taking psychedelics. Some might say it's where the name of psychedelics originated indirectly. When you take acid it diluted a viscus liquid in the center of your brain that usually governs what signal/thought pass through at any one moment. The dilution essentially opens the floodgates and we kind of see wveryrhing at once.

I guess what I'm saying is that god may just be an algorithm that self governs and influences what occurs and whilst events may appear unique to a limited field of view, once the field of view is expanded or widened a set of repeating patterns is exposed. Many thinga suport this. History, fashion, predictable psychology, species, music, art, nature/agriculture. The humble but wonderful romanesco cauliflower for example.... Romancauli

This idea is what makes me very reluctant to Cbt... What about you?
I think there is NOTHING after this. I think anything else is a figment of mind and the brain as a scare tactic

My thoughts exactly... I am wondering what are thinking might happen after CTBing?
Something Very Bad and eternal in it's ways. Do I Know that will happen? Idk... No idea,. But my Mom had an experience years ago which I will Never forget. It's just stuck with me I guess... So now I ruminate over it,. And if it's worth me taking my life.

I wish you the best, no Doubt.

I'm not sure we'd have such strong survival instincts if death wasn't final.

Its possible we are in a simulation, but organic life would always precede mechanical life. So even if simulations exist there is still organic life in existence otherwise simulations could never exist. We might also happen to be in that organic reality
This an interesting and understandable take however what we perceive to be mechanical is only based on our overal picture of things. We are mechanical technically speaking and the mechanical things we create are very simplified imitations of the mechanics of nature we observe. We are imitating and replicating nature. Quite literally. Therefore it might be reasonable to think that actually we are a very simplified (mechanism in your terms) created by something massively more complex than ourselves. This is a very good example of the way we're limited by our imagination and perception of things. What we see as whole is actually only a segment of something that we are able to see. The concept of infinity also helps to garner an understanding of this. We can't conceive infinity in our minds. The understanding of no beginning or end is incomprehendable to our limited mind as we only know of beginings and ends. However infinity does exist. It kind of has to but when we look into space we wonder where it stops. It's a perplexing thought to really grasp that even if it does end there is something after that, and then that, and that and so on.

It does offer up an interesting thought on the possibility that infinity is a loop and I suspect that this often sows the seed for the belief in reincarnation from a logical standpoint.

I've been fairly reluctant to share it on here because of the belief/ non belief of others. Think I would get flamed beyond words. I'll share it with you in a PM /DM if you want, all up to you. 🤟

I don't believe in god but i still believe in supernaturals and I often feel death is not the end, but a start for bigger eternal life that we hadn't seen yet.

I don't, and never have. I tend to be a pragmatic fan of science—and now there's a problem. Simulation theory. If there's a simulation, then it would appear there's a creator. Now what? My pea brain can't cope. But this much I do know—I'm completely against some bearded, geriatric overlord who metes out judgement wile being a misogynistic, baby-killing, war-mongering arsehole. Screw that noise.

I think about how intelligent and ingenious previous civilisations have been. The Egyptians for example. They were so advanced that even now, architects are taking inspiration and learning from them. Yet despite their superior intelligence they were limited by their isolated view and their imagination mixed with their logic resulted in all sorts of mythical beliefs. They believed them so much that they enforced them with death and sacrifice. Often very brutally. Incas aren't so different. It seems we have a tendency to assume the unusual or unexplained to be mystical in some way. Intelligence only gets us so far and then we fill in the blanks as we assume fit. Sometimes you just have to accept you just don't know.

I consider myself a lazy Christian lol, but in reality I'm more agnostic than anything. Am i firmly convinced god exists? No…but am I convinced he/she/it doesn't? Also no.
Im more indifferent toward religion than anything, though.

Concept I was referring to is the true Earth, not this poorly drawn mimick that we have been trapped in for a long time..
What if I told you that ticks and other such parasites have only been around for 6000 years?

Evidently as you have pointed out, these hijacked realms were not directly created by any benevolent entity.

Not really, since I've never been that high on religion. I've tried at points in my life to read the Bible and give it a go, but I just couldn't get that invested in it. I do feel fortunate that I grew up in a family that was never overly religious, since I don't believe that would've turned out well for me. A part of me wants to believe in an afterlife and how cool and unique it might be, but I'm also fine if there's nothing.

I used to until I turned 12 or something.
I remember sitting in school when I was 6 thinking about death as a way to meet my dad again in heaven. I don't anymore.

I believed in higher beings since I was in college but coming here, i don't think it's still true anymore. I don't even know if he's really real. Most of the people I know says I have to trust him and all that but they couldn't even understand what i'm going through and they don't seem to care. So yeah, how could i really believe in anything or anyone right now? It makes me sick.
I used to believe in God, but now that I'm 58 and I've lived a life of torment, I believe either God exists and HATES me or he was "invented" so others could mind control others.

I was a Christian at a point, albeit very causal about it. Then, I became a deist. Now, I'm a full-blown materialist who doesn't believe in anything supernatural; basically, an atheist on hard mode. I guess I could thank the Logic 101 course I took in my undergrad for that. I will say, though, there was something comforting about believing in a higher power.
