One of the phrases I always hated hearing was:
"Bad people don't care that they're bad."
Which is so fucking untrue. Plenty of "good" people do bad things and don't care at all and plenty of "bad" people do good things and still believe they're still bad.
I believe in redemption. I think it's always possible for people to change, but I also think the reason so many people believe that they're too far gone to become better is because of shit lines like that.
Does this rationale help me from believing I am an awful person who only brings hurt to others so I should spare them from myself at all costs? No, but it's a start.
Maybe you are a bad person, but that's okay. If you feel ctb is what will give you peace then it's your right as a person to die how you please. But if you just need someone to tell you that you can become kind again, then take this as your sign.
Morality is a cycle, sometimes you do good, sometimes you do bad. You can't be who you once were but you can use the experience from that past version to help create a better
future version of you.
